I don't think I have ever had a professor give me as much busy work than Devries gave me, she truly knows no limits to the number of things she is willing to assign. We could have a paper or a test, and she would still assign homework for those days. She is insanely picky about her grading and overall a boring teacher. Don't take this class.

Incredibly nice woman, bad teacher. Really disorganized and scatterbrained, with poorly written quizzes and exams. Lots of busy work homework involving watching nature documentary videos. Everything is confusing but you'll get a B with minimal effort

Comment:

She's a really nice teacher and is willing to help you if you ask for it. However, her class is boring and she's not always clear with what she wants. I was confused most of the time and asked my lab partners for help. Easy to get a good grade as long as you really read her lab instructions. So far I have an A for her class and I barely do much.

She is the worst teacher I have had at Elon. Class is unorganized. Labs are unclear and I've learned nothing. Homework and tests are a headache because she is such a bad teacher so things get stressful but the work isn't TERRIBLE. The only reason its hard is because she doesnt teach. I'd rather have a better teacher with more work then have her.

If your willing to put up with a lot of stupid busy work that you really don't learn much from and can get an easy A in, look no further. She's incredibly disorganized, not that great of a teacher, and her labs are incredibly boring. That being said, she's not a hard grader at all so if you can put up with that, good way to knock out your lab req.

Professor Devries is really nice, and her class is relatively easy. A lot of busy work. Its not hard just annoying. 8 page research paper and group presentation at the end of semester, also very annoying but not hard.

Very nice woman. Easiest class ever, you don't even have to do half the homework and you will still get a B. You can hand in homework late and not worry. Tests are easy and are short. lectures are EXTREMELY boring, very monotone teacher who just rambles on. Most kids are on Facebook the whole time anyways....A lot of lab work

One of the sweetest woman I have ever met. I about tanked biology when I took it AP in high school. I have not gotten below a 95 on one of her tests. She lays everything out in the powerpoints and has copious amounts of extra credit. Unless you attempt to fail the class you'll do incredibly well. She is very good with help out of class.Recommend

Not a good teacher. Awkward and doesn't make eye-contact. No one responds to her questions in class. Lab assistant is more helpful than DeVries. DO the extra credit. I have an A because I remember material from high school. Read the book if you don't understand. Sweet woman but painfully boring. 90% of class is on laptop and doesn't pay attention.

Very easy teacher, one of the easiest classes Ive taken at Elon. Quizes and tests contain alot of multiple choice. Multiple choice in college, lol ive never seen such a thing. Not only that usually 1 or 2 of the four answers are obviously wrong in each question. Shes just easy, take the class if you don't care about science.

This is probably one of the worst teachers ive ever had in my life. She does look like a bird and im pretty sure she did lsd as a kid cause she always has flashbacks in class. Honestly, Dr. DeVries is a horrible professor. I still wonder how she got her job at Elon University, I'm guessing the school has not monitared her classes. If you want a class that is hard because of a teachers stupidity, or if you want to watch an awkward woman trying to explain something she doesn not seem to understand ... then take her class!

doctor devries is an aloof teacher. sometimes she acts like she doesn't know what is going on. it is a pretty easy class do the prelabs and read the labs and you will do well. probably a high b or an a. in my opninon she looks like a bird. my lab assistants seem to help more than she does. she is pretty bad at explaining things. but she is nice.
