The Art History 100 level class does not have much outside work; however, when there is work it can be annoying and tedious. The class requires studying for a couple tests and the final as you need to memorize works of art and terms.

This class is made up of numerous lecturers teaching their strengths in art history, with some being better than others. Good memorization skills needed to do well in this class, because there's a lot to know/write down. As a lecturer herself, Schmitter's one of the better ones that gives you relevant information for tests without much extra fluff.

This was a team-taught course, but as a whole, I believe that it should be a level 200+ course. The amount of work in and outside of class is ridiculous. The only way for you to get an A in this class is if you have a strong memory. If you do not have that, I suggest that you think of another way of getting the AT & G Gen Eds.

She herself is very knowledgable on the subject but acts like everyone is an Art Hist. major which can make it pretty boring. Tests aren't too bad if you enjoy cram memorizing and be prepared to be VERY specific and memorize 40 things for only 10 to be on the exam. Paper assignment also big part of grade. Overall not too bad but by no means easy.

Don't take this class if you are taking it as a gen ed, unless you share a strong passion for art and history. The teacher lacks relationships with students that are not art/history related majors. Powerpoints are extremely unorganized, and not posted on moodle, so taking notes to study from is hard. 2 midterms, 1 final, and final 7 pg paper.

Only an enjoyable course if you are passionate about art history. Doesn't show much compassion or interest in her students. Provides very vague instructions for assignments. Doesn't give good feedback. I struggled through this class being a comm major. Would not recommend if you are looking for an easy gened. It is the total opposite.

Overall I think its a pretty easy Gen Ed ( If you're don't mind reading/ taking notes ). Monika's powerpoint lectures are very engaging and she is extremely knowledgeable on the history of Venice and Italy in general. If you do notes, follow study guides for exams and do well on the final paper (kinda long but she's a fair grader) this is an easy A

She is extremely knowledgeable on Renaissance. If you have issues, like I did, with research is will guide you in the right direction. Her grading is extremely fair. Just go to class, put in an effort and show some interest and you will get a B. She, like the rest of the Art History department, is amazing in her field.

Monika is very clear and enthusiastic about Renaissance Art. She is a fair grader, if you try. Tests are easy, if you study. Her lectures are always very organized and throughout her semester there is an underlying theme. Very interesting. Great prof.

She very rude. If you come into the class seriously 15 seconds late she bugs out. And there is soooooo much memorizing when it comes to tests. And you basically have to come to class because she gives you little writing assignments that she grades. Interesting class. Bad teacher.
