Dr. Murray Singer is a man that is passionate about his work and is very distinguished in his field. I believe that he has high expectations of students which has led to some of the comments here perhaps. I went on to do an independent research study with him, I was grateful to do so, he also gave me an A+. He has lots to offer, if you want it.

His lectures are agonizing, he is beyond boring and dry while managing to seriously lose himself constantly. Ironic that a professor of a course about language seems to speak in a completely disorganized manner. Unlike some professors who work to give you a good grade, multiple choice in his class give you the first letters only for your options.

He is so boring, he makes the reading the textbook very enjoyable. He spends all of class going over the experiments in the text book in ridiculous detail, all on poorly organized overheads He uses little bits of paper to cover up bits and pieces of his overheads and exposes them bit by bit. VERY boring class, thank goodness for the okay textbook

Very good prof! You need to attend class to do well in this course, but if you actually listen his explanations are very clear. His style of teaching may be lost on some student because he does not spoon feed students! Students that have trouble in this class are not willing to think for themselves.

My oh my...I have never agreed with prof comments more! This guy is really boringg, confusing and not helpful when you ask him things. Test questions are really worded badly...and it's true, even if you know your stuff..you could get a crappy mark. Avoid if at all possible!!

For a prof who specializes in language, it's ironic that he can't teach at all. Organization was horrible and I never knew what he was trying to say. Classes were actually painful. And the test questions were worded very poorly so that even if you knew all the material perfectly, you could still do poorly. Drop this class immediately if you can!

sitting in his class is akin to death. his rambling and absolute idiocy is phenomenal. never have i met someone who can screw up a student's understanding as he can. bring a pillow. if you don't sleep, you'll lose your mind. i'd say run away!
