Naeem is different than any other professor I've ever had. Don't take his class if you are easily offended or discomforted. His lectures are on edge and deep. You really have to be up for him to get through his class but it's very worth it.

took understanding capitalism and I loved it. cannot wait to take another class with him. naeem is not for everyone- you either love his class or will drop it. he deals with some very difficult (and harsh) concepts so be prepared. give him a try if you want to loarn something real

I took Naeem my first semester and he blew all of my other professors out of the water. His was the only class that i looked forward to every week. It took us to some really deep places and he made us really look at our beliefs and did so without coming off as preachy or as though he was trying to push an agenda. I cant wait to take more classes.

Naeem means well. And he really may impart a lot in you that will change you, he did for me. But be warned that he will be condescending and he will make your semester hellish. He loves to talk down to his students and force them to figure things out on their own. Be prepared for what you are signing up for, it won't be easy (or enjoyable).

He is easily one of the best professor I have ever had. His goal is to show you the world through your own eyes and realize how you can navigate its complexity. He does not and it to you!!! So if you do want to think, and you do want to confront yourself; and grow as a person who has to survive in the real world (not just IC):THEN take Naeem!

"Please be assured that I am not trying to make students cry. It happens. I still don't know why." I sincerely believe this is a lie. He deserves to be in the college but that's about it. The level of in-sincerity that goes along with systematically making people cry and then pretending you don't know why is not a good sign in any human context.

Helpfulness is filled out at 2 not because he doesn't have the potential to change your life, but because the metric for two on this site says "you have to beg for help." This is the truth. Changed my life. Can come of as arrogant and to be honest, he probably is. But he is also a great professor, those things are not mutually exclusive. You'll know his opinion on the topic from the start and that deters some but would you rather have an opinionated, engaged professor or a neutral, unengaged one? I highly recommend taking his courses.

A deep thinker and a considerate man. Discussions in other classes seem hollow compared to those in his; likewise, writing assignments for other classes can seem like the hoop-jumping-through they are. It's all because he looks for engagement.

One of the best professors I have had at IC. Has a very interesting teaching style that takes getting use to but worth while. He forces you to think without you even realizing it. Highly recommend taking his Intro to International Relations class

Naeem has been one of the most influential professors, and individuals, in my life. He will force you to challenge your beliefs, but won't force you to adhere to his. He cultivates an environment and professor-student relationship that helps improve writing and rhetorical skills. My favorite professor/class at IC so far!!

It's been 19 years since I had a class with Naeem (back in Colorado), but I Just found this site and had to put my 2 cents in. Naeem was the best professor I've ever had. Turned my world, universe upside down. Hardest class I took in terms of facing myself / culture but most worthwhile. Naeem challenges, but gently with love underneath surface- class & teachings always on my mind, even 2 yrs later still onto learning sparks he started.
