Nate is a passionate and amazing professor. He teaches debate and argumentation in a clear and interesting way. He gives great feedback and I left this class feeling like I learned a valuable skill for the rest of my life. The textbook is necessary but it is only 40 bucks! Definitely take Nate if you want to learn new things.

Professor Brown's Argumentation course is a MUST! I absolutely love this class! If you do the reading, the homework assignments will be a breeze! He flawlessly teaches you to recognize fallacious statements & respond accordingly. Advice: VOLUNTEER to judge debates (extra credit). I respect that he calls ppl out when they don't put in the effort.

This class is really fun and educational on how to be a good debater. Makes you step out of your comfort zone and test your limits. Very flexible only graded on participation and works well with your schedule. This is the only class that doesn't feel like a burden. Opinions and discussions are welcome and respected and it is a safe space always.

The syllabus you get is great. READ IT. It tells you everything you need to know about how he wants you to do the assignments. I took an online class, so reading the book is mandatory. Read, follow instructions, write in detail, and you will get an A.

In all honesty, he really over complicates the class. The outlines for the individual speeches and the group debates were just too much in terms of trying to put it all together. The group debates are expected to be done his way which I felt he didn't explain too much about it. I retook this class with Prof Andrade and it was so much easier!

He is an easy grader for speech delivery and is clear about what he wants. The cons about this professor is the service learning assignment that is MANDATORY. You have to drive to one of his speech and debate competitions and stay like 6 hours. Some of these drives were over 50 miles away from SMC. Its crazy. And if you dont do that you wont pass.

Prof. Brown's Com 35 class is really straight forward and simple. Participation matters, which means responding to discussion posts. 3 exams, assignments and discussions based on lectures and reading material. A little late when responding to emails, but provides good information and material to make you successful in his class. Take him!

I took professor brown's online winter comm studies 35 class and I enjoyed it. If you actually do the work, which isn't too much, and study for the tests, you should get an A. The assignments were super easy but the tests were a little difficult so be prepared to read the notes and study.

His online communication studies class is exceptional. I missed signing in on the first day and he let me stay. I am extremely grateful because I can say for certain that this has been one of my favorite college courses to date. Some of the assignments require a partner and they allow you to explore relationships with those close to you.

I took him last semester and he is an amazing professor! I passed with an A and didn't even have to take the final. He offers extra credit for attending off campus debates/speeches. He is very clear, respectable and a fair grader. The people who didn't do well were the people who were not good communicators to begin with! Debates were tons of fun!!
