Dr. Slavin is an excellent professor. Having taking accounting in undergraduate studies and not doing very well, Dr. Slavin's classes have changed my perception of accounting, and drastically improved my performance. With his use of real-life examples it helps to bring everything together. His teaching method adds more value than grades alone.

Comment:
This professor is actually the most arrogant and irritating professor I have ever had, including my 4 years of undergrad at Stony Brook. He is always telling the international students how to merge with American culture IN THE MIDDLE OF LECTURE. He degrades us when we don't answer right away and doesn't LECTURE at all. Annoying.

Dr. Slavin keeps you attentive in his lectures by making fun references to the topic. Homeworks are done online based off of lectures. The class can become a bit confusing however. All in all, Dr. Slavin is a nice professor teaching an okay class. If you pay attention you will do well and enjoy his class, if not... you'll find yourself confused.

Had Dr. Slavin in the 1980s. The absolute worst college professor that I ever had. I stopped going to class after the 4th session due to his nasty arrogance. I memorized past tests, which made up 2/3 of exams and got thru course. He used these past years tests word for word, which was irresponsible of him! AVOID

Great Professor! Very good at explaining the material. If someone does not understand something, he would be more than happy to stop and explain it again using multiple examples for better understanding. I would definitely recommend taking his class to everybody.

Comment:
Slavin is too caught up in his heritage and literally favors anybody who is Jewish. Literally the first day he asked "who's Jewish in here?" And he loves talking about Israel. While none of this is related to Accounting whatsoever. He has a very "Sounds like a you problem" attitude and doesn't accommodate students when you ask him a question.

One of the best professors at Hofstra (if not the best)! You actually use what you learn in his class. He is very supportive, clear, energetic, fair and amusing. I stayed with him for ACCT 101 and 102.

Accounting is not my forte' and I had to take this class being in the business school but from everything I have read here Dr. Slavin is the MAN. Group projects are like a 90 avg and if you screw up he gives 2nd chances plus extra credit. For a boring subject he's funny & I could think of a million worst teachers to spend the time listening to.

Absolute worst professor I've had at Hofstra. He's condescending, sarcastic, does not give any help when asked questions, is overall a very poor professor. When students asked questions he would give them sarcastic responses along the lines of "why don't you know that." I wouldn't refer him to my worst enemy.
