Ned lectures all class long, with the occasional curious student creating a discussion. You're only graded on two papers (midterm and final). Ned is extremely knowledgeable in Chinese history but his class will definitely be a bore for those who aren't into it at all cause he goes deep into it. Very nice guy though! Always smiling!

Very enthusiastic about topic, willing to answer any questions but be ready for a long answer. Lectures can be directionless and not well organized despite a lot of information being given. Take home exams are subjective and "no wrong answer" type. Smart guy, mediocre teacher.

Prof.Davis is such a nice person, he's extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Very interesting class, although we only had two take home exams but the questions are really hard so need to work on them ahead of time. I learned a lot from his class.

Professor Davis is an awesome lecturer. One of the few teachers who still stick to the chalkboard. He seems very excited about what he teaches he's always smiling and is always extra extra enthusiastic (anyone who thought his class was boring obviously didn't utilize the lectures well enough).

At times you wonder if he is a genious or a very distracted person, but in his best moments he is a fantastic lecturer. Since he doesn't require attendance, when he's in his bad days, find your way to the restroom, never to return. Watch your English in your paper.

A very boring class. But if you just stick with it, take notes, and do the readings, you'll do pretty good. I came into this class knowing nothing about China and left with an A. Take home midterm and final. If you get an A on the final, you get an A for his class.

First-class brain supposedly, but among the laziest, most self-absorbed pretentious dilletantes I've ever encountered. He did zero preparation, was completely useless at seminar leading, and completely uninterested in post-class assistance, unless you were a lonely divorcee or something.
