Professor Hippolyte is a challenging Spanish professor who calls on students to participate constantly during class, but this brings life and energy to his lessons and makes learning Spanish more fun. There is daily homework and many quizzes, but all of the practice really helps students increase their ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.

Absolutely amazing professor. He's so caring and always cracking jokes in class. Attendance is mandatory and you need to participate, but it's not a super hard class and there's lots of homework and quizzes to help your grade.

Even though this class involves a lot of participation and homework, I still highly suggest it! I learned so much and greatly improved my Spanish skills in this class, which is the whole purpose of taking Spanish in the first place. Nelson is a super awesome professor and is always willing to help his students if they have questions about anything.

The class was very intimidating at first, but after getting a feel for the content and lecture flow, I loved the class. Nelson is a great professor with a great sense of humor. Expect homework every night and to be called on multiple times each class for participation. This class truly improved my Spanish skills & I highly recommend it with Nelson.

Nelson rocks. Seriously, the dude is so funny. He once asked my class what an internet troll was. His lectures are a bit difficult, he speaks really fast, but as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. He's such a gem, highly recommend!!!

Hippolyte was my first Spanish teacher coming into college; He is super chill and nice and is one of the best Spanish teachers I've ever had. The class was mostly review from high school for me but he makes it fun. He's super funny and will correct you if you make a speaking mistake. Not many tests but easy nightly homework. 10/10 would recommend

10/10 guy. This class was the easiest Spanish class I have ever taken, it was literally just review and Nelson is a great professor. He is super easy on everyone and actually helps you do well. If you even remotely try in this class, you will pass. You have to do homework every night online but it's so easy.

Dr. Hoppolyte really cares about us learning Spanish and makes it worth our time. He is also in charge of the trip to Spain and I can't wait to go. He's a fair grader and is so funny when he translates things. I would recommend him as a professor to anyone.

He makes you learn Spanish through participation in class. He is a genuine and happy person that makes coming to class fun. Sometimes the exams could be hard but if you participate every day you will be fine. He is very accessible outside the classroom as well. Only downfall is that if you don't understand something he can't explain it in english.

The class itself is very hard and you have to work hard to get a good grade in it. Nelson helped me learn the Spanish language better than any teacher ever has though. He likes to put you in the hot seat which is very scary at the beginning of the semester, but it is seriously so beneficial. Take Nelson if you can he is the best!

Professor Hippolyte is really interesting. His English is a little choppy but it makes the class funny when he tries to translate things for us. Expect lots of participation, every class you're going to be put on the hot seat but it honestly made me better at understanding and speaking Spanish. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.

Extremely helpful professor and made the intermediate Spanish series actually enjoyable; really encourages every student to speak in class and has great explanations for the stories/movies. I learned a lot and if you do the work you can get an A.

Not gonna lie, it is hard to do well in this class unless you already know Spanish real well already. When asking for help, he will often be unclear or disinterested. But, he really wants to make the class fun, doesn't care if you do homework (which is good and bad), and connects culture to Spanish other than just language. Overall, he a fair prof

having a foreign exchange background, i found the class extremely easy. however, i know it was more difficult for others and i heard a lot of complaining about the grades. he always have cool videos/debates.he's funny, but defintely got under the skin of a couple people in our class. it's just practicing your spanish, not refining it, with him.

He is a good teacher who knows the language well. He's humerous and nice and really makes students speak the language. My confidence in my speaking got a LOT better! However, he isn't the easiest grader, you need to work for an A. But overall I would say take him! Especially if you're interested in improving your spanish!

Extremely good at the language and has good intentions. However, he doesn't give A's. I'm a 4.0 Spanish major and I didn't receive an A. Interesting class, hard grader. If you're okay with getting a B he's a good teacher.

I wish I could take every Spanish class with this teacher. He makes the class fun and engages in conversation with you daily as soon as you sit down. He plays music and videos often. He can be a hard grader on the compositions but overall is very fair.
