Comment:
Professor Russell is really nice and has a good sense of humor, but his lectures can be extremely boring. Some of the reading for this class is hard to get through, and he assigns a lot of it. He grades pretty leniently, though, and you definitely learn a lot in his class.

Professor Russell is FABULOUS! He's a little soft-spoken, which can put you to sleep but overall he's a great French professor. You can learn a lot from him.

Prof. Russell is great! His lectures were always interesting, he's accessible, and a pretty generous grader; he gave me a 4 day extension on this big paper, no questions asked. The readings for 253 were difficult, but i usually got the english translation and followed along in it. He made the subject matter really interesting and relevant.

I lost a lot of interest in French after this class. He was not very helpful when I went to him with questions during his office hours. I was also sick for two weeks and he was not good about getting back to me emails or helping me catch up. All in all, not a very good professor. Take class with someone else who will teach you more.

My experience with French which started off very well with Ann Leone just went downhill in spring semester my first-year. He wan't helpful and didn't have positive attitude toward me from the beginning. I was so discouraged to learn.

Prob THE hardest class I ever took. But maybe it's because it was French medieval lit. But, he's not the most intense and interesting prof.
