Great professor. If you do not go to class you will not pass. Try to participate as much as you can and make sure you read the required reading before going to class.

You cannot pass the class without going to class. Homework is assigned every single class. There are quizzes for almost everything we have to read. There are about 4-5 papers due during the semester. She calls on students even when they do not raise their hands - so just participate to save yourself the embarrassment.

Knows her stuff, but upon visit to office hour everything you ask she would agree but gives you a look of like she wants more, something else. So it leaves you with a feeling like you learned the material but its wrong again because she always wants to look for more.

Professor Fluhr is a great, nice person. While I understand it was a W course, she assigned several papers at one time. While doable, her grading criteria was far from clear and prevented myself and many of my classmates from doing as well as we could have.

Victorian Novel is an elective that counts toward the MS in English at SCSU. The class would meet one night a week. She changed a required text without letting us know. Had to make returns to Amazon because she "couldn't make up her mind." I was floored with her unusual grading system: outstanding, satisfactory, or unsatisfactory on assignments.

Professor Fluhr is the kind of prof you need to warm up to in the beginning, but I believe she made me a better writer regarding critical theory. She knows her stuff and is very willing to help. She wants you to succeed. Though the readings weren't my favorite, she taught the subject well. She challenges you for your benefit. No textbook needed!

I'm currently taking this class with her and so far I'm unenthused. Our (lengthy) readings have been 99% feminist theory-based, a narrowed subject not many of us have enjoyed thus far. She's friendly enough, but this does not feel like the useful, broad-scoped 308 class it should be. Her interests are dominant. I wish I had switched professors.

This is my second time with taking a course with Prof. Fluhr. I enjoyed the course immensely but had a challenging time with the later assigned readings (which are a bit dense). However, she is willing to meet with students to help, will always give you feedback about your work, and is open to extending due dates if you have valid reasons.

I loved having Professor Fluhr. It wasn't the easiest course by any means, but the material was pertinent and she was great at making sure everyone in the class understood the "takeaway" messages from it. The discussions were lively and productive. Would jump to have her as a professor again. Show up, do the readings, participate in discussions.

Ugh! This professor talks too much. The readings are too long, indecipherable and just plain boring. Her attitude is leaves much to be desired and she's hard to understand. Take 308 with a different professor.

Prof Fluhr gives you an in depth idea of what the class is going to be like on the very first day. If you are not prepared to do the work, take a different class. She gives plenty of feedback on essays and will meet with you if you make an appt. I learned so much in this class and definitely want to take another class with her! She's really kind.

Two page papers are an excellent chance to synthesize the reading for week. There was a lot of reading for the standard 3 credit course. The research paper was too long in my opinion. guided discussion is the singular method used. I learned not to speak up if I disagreed with her stance or personal politics.

Awful professor! She doesn't tell students what she expects until after the assignment is due; therefore, everyone receives C's and D's on papers. She isn't helpful in office hours. She gets frustrated and stops talking to you. She has unrealistic expectations of student writing - she expects us all to write on her level. Don't take her!

There is a serious lack of direction in this class. She has unrealistic expectations of writing. She expects us to write on her level when we've only been in college for 2 years, not 10. If you dont think like her, which most of my class didn't, you wont get good grades on papers. Try to think the way she does and you'll be ok, but dont expect an A

Why did this prof get a Phd if all she's going to do is sit there and guide a discussion? I could do that. She's lazy, late with papers, unclear, has her favorites and doesn't answer e-mails. Someone said she's busy with her kids, then stay home and give us all a break from your boring classes. Next time Ill take someone who's competent.

This course was not well-organized. We never knew exactly what we were supposed to do or anything. We needed six textbooks, but we barely used them. Papers were never handed back in a timely manner, so it was impossible to keep up with how you were personally progressing in the class. It was awful. I would not recommend this prof. for this class.

Professor Fluhr is not so bad. She could have been a bit more clear on assignments at times. She does not really teach; she is more devoted to discussion as it pertains to the readings. The class was not too bad, but I probably would not take it again.

Nicole is a fantastic teacher. Yes, the reading assignments are long, but she often teaches, like, the VICTORIAN NOVEL? So like, dude, there's a lot of reading. Little advice, disgruntled. Don't write "2" when you mean "too." It makes you sound stupid.

Everyone seems to collectively agree that she is a nice and pleasant sort of person. However, strictly speaking as a professor: direction is lacking, reading assignments are extremely long, and the instruction is the same week after week.
