I graduated from Cornell's English Dept. in 2004. I took two courses with Professor Waligora Davis and she was my adviser. She is definitely the prof who had the greatest influence on my development. She may be tough, but her criticism makes you a better student. I am now a PhD student at Harvard and she deserves a great deal of credit for that.

I don't understand the bad rap...Prof. WD is great. She really cares about the material and doesn't place herself on a higher level than her students like a lot of profs. Her readings are well-chosen and the films complement them nicely. lots of writing and reading tho

tough grader. very personable and friendly -- quite different from a lot of other english profs. talks a lot but still tries to encourage class discussion. i put a lot of work into the class and didn't get as good a grade as i expected.

Definitely the worst teacher I've ever had. No coherence to her lectures, and she was just plain wrong about so many things, yet she still regarded her word as the gospel. I don't wish for anybody to suffer through her classes - stay far away!

I disagree with prior ratings. She is an amazing professor, has deep insights into issues that are not usually explored in heavily ideological classes and encourages students to challenge their existing views on important issues. She is one of the best.

Freshman writting seminar is supposed to have a 70 page a week max - she gave on average 150page per CLASS reading assignment. Did not follow course description at all. Very pompus for no good reason. My Recomendation: Run from this one.
