I worked my ass off in this class and didn't receive and A on a single project. I would spend 7-10 hours a week on the project and get a B or a C when I thought it was an amazing piece of work. She is very clear on explaining the projects, but you never know what she will or will not like.

Comment:

Nina is a strong personality & a very talented artist. All I can say is that if you play by the rules, you'll do well. If you skip class and don't put in the effort, theres no way you'll pass. She's very critical and expects a lot out of you. She rarely gives A's and if you want one, expect to work ridiculously hard. Challenging yet rewarding.

She's really picky, and her praise on one project is a criticism on another. her painting skills are really good, but her extremely subjective and varying critique makes it hard to please her. She was born with the gift of design, but can't explain it to others quite so well.

She makes the class go bye slow we focus on one topic the whole time. in the beg. of the class we discus and show everybodies work and she comments on them. The hw is basicly just sketches everyweek. its an easy class, but I really dislike this class. She doesnt allow us to use our phones and she gives us looks when we are talking during class.

Nina was one of my favorite teachers at CCC. She was hard on everyone and very honest. I wasn't much of a drawer before i took her class, but her criticism was VERY helpful. She lets you redo assignments. DON'T be late--not worth the wrath.

I had her for Drawing 1 and Color Strategies. I've learned so much from Nina and you will too. However, if you're not willing to work and work HARD, than you will not pass. She expects quality work from her students and nothing else. Some of her assignments in color strategies were a bit odd, but gained knowledge nonetheless. Take her!

Fantastic. Note: you will work your ass off in this class. I appreciate that she expects highly of her students. Learned a lot from this class even if it was difficult and at times, tedious. She's helpful and will provide insight if you ask for it. Class is helpful but only if YOU put forth the effort.

not always clear on assignments every week, seems like she changes her mind from week to week. which got frustrating. in the end, most useful class i had my first semester, took a lot away from it. she knows what she's doing, and she's very good at it. learned a lot that i will use for my work, and i would take another class with her.

I'm sure she's a very talented artist but I have a difficult time learning from her. She's incredibly inconsistent and doesn't realize your efforts. It's almost impossible to please her even though you spend hours on your work. I like 2D design but it's difficult to learn with a negative, unresponsive, over opinionated teacher.

I love this class. It's challenging and full of useful info. Unfortunately a lot of my classmates do not feel the same way. lol their loss I suppose. Props to Nina Weiss for creating a curriculum that challenges and makes you actually think about what you're doing.

It's a hard class yeah but you learn a lot in her class. Criticism is a big part of this class but it's only to make you better at what you're doing. Even if you find an assignment hard still do it! she just wants to see you at least tried.I passed this class with an A. it's not impossible people!

Wonderful woman, difficult class. She definitely uses a traditional method of teaching but I respect that. She is unbiased toward more experienced drawers and finds the flaws and strengths in everyone. I had a really hard time in her class but I learned to love it and see how much I was growing.

The class was boring, I loved drawing and she made me want to stay away from it after her. Not very helpful in critiques & she contradicts herself when she tries to help.I should have gotten an A or B and we discussed it and then I got a C, pretty sure she just guessed my final grade instead of basing it off of the gradebook, I don't recommend her.

I actually liked having her as a teacher. I never felt that any project or homework was too challenging or not challenging enough. The five sketches a week were a bit much for me, but I'd prefer that to ten or more. I found her to be very contructive in her criticism. Overall, a very good experience.

Despite all that has been said prior to this review, in my opinion she is a very good teacher. Although she does tend to favor certain students, it isn't hard to get on her good side. Just do the required work and show at least SOME interest in the class and you're fine. And i have noticed a HUGE improvemnt in my drawings each week.

Had her for Drawing I, not a fine-arts student but still did well in her class. If you do your work weekly, you're golden. Enjoys figure and gesture drawings in your sketchbook. Also, willing to advise after class or on break. ALWAYS ask about grade and show interest and you'll be fine but you WILL have to work, made me a better artist.

I DREADED her class every week. 4 hours of drawing class where you draw for 2 of them. She gave insane amounts of homework and even gave us a FINAL. She's nice... but overly critical. She was only happy with one of my pieces. I would never take her class again to be honest.

Extremely difficult teacher, especially for the type of class she teaches. Some of the things she taught us stuck with me and were helpful in the future. Unbelievable amount of work assigned for a non-fine art major. I would try to take someone else's class.
