Dr. Adams was a great professor. I got scared to take him because of some reviews and ended up loving it. I only stopped by him a couple times and each time he was very welcoming and excited. He wants his students to do well. I bought the book, but really if you go to class and take notes you should have no problems.

Definitely my least favorite professor that I've had at Marquette. Unless you are very passionate about philosophy or don't have a choice, I would STEER CLEAR of him. Provides no guidance for tests, doesn't offer a lot of help outside of class, and class itself is unbearable to attend.

Professor Adams is possibly one of the worst professors I have had. He has no clear method of communicating the classes content and his writing is often unclear and minimal. He does not give any study guide for his tests and has an excessive no technology policy. I would highly recommend dropping and/or avoiding him as a professor altogether.

Comment:
Dr. Adams is extremely bad at communicating his desired meaning when it comes to tests and assignments. For our first exam, he told us to have a general idea of what the books were saying and we would be fine, but on exam day we were asked about specific passages and quotations, which was completely opposite of what he told us.

Do not take this teacher if you want a good grade in a required class. Goes on long rambling rants that do not relate to anything on the test. Took very accurate class notes and read the readings and still did poor. Only two exams but they are very difficult and he uses his own judgement to move your grade up or down at his pleasure without notice

I took Dr. Adams for an upper level logic class. He is a good teacher. He really likes the Flyers and once and awhile he goes off on tangents about the academic system that's always a treat. However, he's not always clear when he answers questions. He answers what sometimes seems to be a different question than the one asked.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Worst teacher ever! Tests are extremely hard- it advise is to look at class notes and the book...not helpful. He encourages you to meet with him outside of class, but he often has schedules graduate student meetings at that time, then what's the point of office hours. Doesn't relate to his students at all. Don't take him!

He completely speaks in a circle and contradicts himself constantly. He has no structure in the class you don't know what to write, because he just constantly rambles. On the test things appear that he never even acknowledged.

Dr. Adams means well and is very into philosophy but if you aren't and just taking it to get through your requirement don't take him. You have easy page reflections due once a week which he grades easy, but once it comes to tests you see a whole different person grading. He's interesting but expect to be studying a ton when it comes to exams.

His teaching is very confusing and although he knows what he's talking about he doesn't teach it in a very good way at all. His tests are very very hard no matter how much I've studied. If you want an A than I wouldn't take his class.

I would not recommend him in the least for those of you, (who like me) don't like doing a ton of tedious work. He makes you write a page before every class on some vague question that can't really be answered by the vague text. Tests are difficult...if you want an easy A or B...steer clear...steer very clear

An extremely likable and intelligent teacher. Just like any phil prof worth his/her salt, he'll challenge your mind to whatever extent it's ready to be challenged. He managed class discussion well, was always available to help, and was never condescending. Highly recommended.

Hard to understand and is a very hard grader. One tiny little mistake on a quiz and you're at a 75%. He's not very clear when he tries to answer a question someone asked in class. In fact he sort of goes round in circles until someone else can explain it. I won't take him again.

Great class. Well organized and Adams makes it interesting enough to go to. He relates everything to South Park or hockey and he does everything in his power to make sure we understand. He also strongly encourages our class to work out our homework and quizzes together. 15 take-home quizzes, but he drops the lowest 5, 4 exams, 1 final.

Phil50/1001 Adams is a nice guy, not hard to listen to. Good news: I'm smart so I did well. Bad news: you must write a page response to reading in the text for every class, three points each totaling a test's worth. If you know phil you'll do well. I mean I did, but I'd rather have taken a class with less tedious work. You're probably the same.

Adams is very passionate about what he teaches, if you are interested in it. His tests are unclear in the questions, causing you to change your answer repeatedly. 37 one-page papers and only 16 count for a grade. If you want a high grade, participate a lot.

He's a great teacher. He makes Philosophy interesting and I do not normally find it interesting. One page writing assignments due every class, but they are very easy and only one is graded a week. He loves what he does and wants people to get something out of the class. He is flexible and willing to help you in any way he can. Take him.
