I miss Watanabe-sensei!!! I had her for my 1001 course (and Miyajima for my 1002 course), and taking Miyajima's class was like a slap in the face at times. Professor Watanabe is extremely sweet and helpful and never makes you feel dumb for getting something wrong, which is great for a class with a huge workload like Japanese. Take her if you can!

HATED this class. She definitely knows the material herself, but she is unable to project that knowledge to the class in an effective way. It was downright agitating when it came to studying as well as keeping up in class. I was very enthusiastic about learning the japanese language; however she dropped my interest level close to zero. Good Luck!

So friendly and helpful! Watanabe-sensei is clearly excited in the material she teaches and doesn't hold back when it comes to cultural facts she mentions during class. Come to class prepared and participate a lot and she'll be impressed. I did a LOT of work for this class, but I found it the most fun after a while. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!

Lot of quizzes since it's a lang class, but it helps boost your grade. She also collects and grades the HWs. She's very understanding and helpful. There's chapter tests, a final, and 2 oral projects. If you're thinking about minoring in Jpn, I would suggest you go ahead and 3001 with her. I was surprised when I got an A.

extremely organized and enthusiastic professor! explains everything with crystal clear explainations. Such a pleasure to have a native speaker as my teacher. Prof Watanabe is a very cheerful professor. She makes the class very fun and interesting. Very nice and polite lady as well. Expect many quizzes though, they are rather easy as long as you study and memorize the given material. Recommended professor!

Professor Watanabe tries hard to teach and engange students in Japanese. The class is loaded with homework, quizzes, tests, oral exams, or projects almost weekly. I've had sensei for about two years and I had a lot of fun in her class. She explains the structure of sentences clearly and expresses her feelings on things sometimes. Sensei no manga eiga wa tottemo kawaii!
