Dr. Gray is a good professor but very hard. I would not recommend taking him if you're looking for an easy class or a GE. Lots of readings to do every night. Expects details on exams. Exams are essay and short answer and are heavily weighted. You will run out of time during the exams if you're not a fast writer.

Comment:
Gray will talk for at least the entire hour and 15 minutes, and many times went 5 minutes or more over. His grading criteria is incredibly unclear and pretty random & harsh. He also used the W-drive to post readings but many times they weren't there and he sent 30 page readings out a day before, if at all. Definitely will never ever take him again.

It was an okay class, the tests were long but strait forward. Make sure on the essay criteria that can get to be a grey area if you don't have him explain it. Overall the class was pretty easy and some of the topics were very interesting as well.

Unclear grader and speaker. Very opinionated and tries to push his opinions on the class. There are two in class tests (including the final) and two papers. With the essays, be sure he actually gives the class the criteria that he is grading on. He forgot to let us know the format that he wanted and everyone got terrible grades on the first paper.

Professor Gray is really great if you're up for learning a bit about the non-western world. His grading is very easy, just make sure your papers are long enough and you definitely get a good grade. His accent does take some adjusting but you get used to it quickly. Definitely recommend the class.

If you have trouble understanding people with accents do not take this class. If you do not know much about politics, don't not take this class. I had to work very hard to get a C, and I am an A student.Overall, don't take this class, it is not interesting, class time is filled with long boring lectures.

Obika is a very nice professor,in his class he shows three videos through out the semester, otherwise he is always open to having guest speakers instead of having lecture. Over all i would recommend this class to anyone considering it

Obika is the man. He has got a sweet accent and loves what he is teaching about. His tests are mostly essay for the upper level courses, and in order to get a B or better on them just write as much as you can. His grading scale is non-existent, but he is a good lecturer and knows how to teach

Professor Gray Is a great guy, however that being said his tests are hard, and his grading system is non existant. He is a good lecturer, but his tests are hard, and based more on details then on actual concepts you learn in the class. I would say if you lke writing he is your guy, but otherwise steer clear.

Lectures were usually interesting but can get long. Take notes and try not to miss class. Exams were tough and mostly essay. He expects you to write a lot. Tests are mostly on the lectures. Skim the readings. He goes over the important ones in class. Good prof. Very passionate. He's from Jamaica and loves to apply every topic we talk about to it.

Obika was an awesome professor. His lectures were very interesting. As long as you write down everything he says and study it you will easily get at least a B. He loves examples so as long as you know what your talking about you will do fine. I looked forward to this class every week. I recomend him to all.

I've had Dr. Gray for two classes. The second time around, his classes were much easier because you know what he is looking for, how he grades and what his exams are like. The exams are hard though, just because he asks you to identify terms that you may have only talked about once or twice. Read things twice, take good notes.

He talks very slow. He expects 4pgs per essay for two essays on exams and one paragraph for each of the ten terms. The terms are impossible to get 100% on so focus on knowing details/examples for the essays. The presentations are not very hard, the papers are a little more difficult though. READ EVERYTHING MULTIPLE TIMES!!!

He was hard to understand and follow. Tests weren't easy at all - essay (know examples!) and 10 (out of 100) vocab. If you want to pass go to every class, write down everything he says, and read everything twice. H was the first prof ever to give me an F.

This is my second class with Dr. Gray. He expects you to do quality work, but once you figure out what he's looking for, it's not too hard to get an A. Interesting lectures, although they can get long at times. I plan on taking another class with him next semester if I can.

Interesting guy who is very passionate. However, lectures are very long and hard to follow. No hints for terms on exams so they could be any of like 200 from the boring book. Study hard for essay exams. A couple of short essays and in class presentations. Definitely need to attend every class and take very good notes.
