Comment:

Besides his thick accent, he is such an honest and genuine professor. One of the best math professors in the department. Really cares about his students! He is always more than happy to help students with work. Also takes the time to explain and go over material in class. Osman is the man!

He is a great teacher, and if you are having trouble as long as you see him outside of class and show him you've tried to do the exercises he will always be willing to help you, his accent is hard to understand at first but you get used to it, definitely one of the nicest caring professors I've had, and has made me want to minor in mathematics.

Comment:

Can be confusing - likes to go off on things and see what happens as he goes, but clearly a great math mind and you can learn a lot if you don't get lost. If you do get lost though, he will help you out and try to make sure you succeed. Very very helpful and nice and genuinely wants to see his students succeed and be excited about learning.

I don't care what everyone says, he is an amazing teacher who truly cares about the math and the students learning it. He goes deep into the theory. He is a great mathematician and will help if you have the balls to ask. His only draw back is that he has a heavy Turkish accent. "Dis, dis is true!".

Comment:

Great teacher and extremely helpful when utilized. Willing to get to know his students and is always open to questions. Exams are not made to be easy and really wants students to understand the material in order to do well. Take advantage of office hours.

Osman is a nice guy who is willing to help you and encourages going to his office hours. However, he does a very poor job at explaing what he teaches. it is very difficult to feel prepared for tests, especially when you haven't learned the material.

Osman is a nice guy, however when it comes to teaching calc he's not the best. In class he does the same thing over and over again without explaining exactly what he's doing so students generally feel very unprepared for tests/quizzes. To pass his class: do the daily homework, study, AND GO TO MATH TUTORS(Osman isn't much help)

Osman liked getting the students involved in the class, (and for me, a student who finds math to be incredibly dull) his teaching style kept me on my toes. The material was difficult, but showing up to class and doing the homework helps tremendously. The extra math help was important too!

Comment:

Heavy Turkish accent makes him hard to understand, and sometimes answers questions with questions. Real nice guy though, and very enthusiastic. Towards the end of the semester I couldn't keep up anymore though, and I basically bombed the final. If you have trouble in his class, study and do hw with people who really get it. He encourages groupwork.

Osman is one of the biggest wastes in the math department. He seems somewhat knowledgeable in his field but it is hard to tell because it is impossible for him to display a clear thought. He has a heavy accent, explains things using ridiculous nonsense examples and makes constant errors in teaching concepts. If yo wanna fail calc take Osmans class.

The material was difficult, but he taught it to us as best as he could, through repetitive questions and narrow minds. Despite not doing well in the beginning, I went to him often and managed to pass without losing my hat. He's a very kind, caring man and didn't mind being pestered daily. Made me feel capable and managed to teach me some math. :)
