Wait how does this professor have any good reviews on here? Must be written by herself because everyone that I know that took her classes has had the same experience - she reads the power point presentation, talks about her husband and family for the rest of the class and then leaves. This is one of the worst classes I've ever taken.

Professor reads the powerpoint talks about her family and then leaves - she goes on and on about her husband as if that's what she is teaching. Gained nothing from this class.

Prof Chasek may not be aware of how white her curriculum is - almost all readings consist of straight white man and women, no critical perspectives, very few authors of color - but then again - most of Manhattan College curriculum is like that so if you are looking for diversity - look elsewhere.

She makes the most interesting topics boring as hell. And she can rant on for hours about any given topic. But the class is easy. And the study guide she gives for exams is basically the test.

I definitely recommend this class!! She helped me a lot with my writing. The tests aren't too challenging, but require a great deal of studying. She shows a lot of interesting videos as well and wants to make the class engaging and informative. Participate a lot and make sure you read up often on current events and you'll do fine. :)

THe professor thinks she is extremely perfect, NOT TRUE. She needs to focus on the class material instead of her husband biking in Thailand, and her son's purple hair. Also, she needs to learn how to grade papers. She is biased, and opinionated and has favorites.

If you are already overloaded with reading material, then you shouldn't take this course, as you might not be able to keep up. If you don't have a lot of classes that require reading, then take it, and get an A. Its not a cookie. If I didn't have so much reading, and a short term memory worse than my Grandma's (for real T_T) I'd be pulling an A.

Chasek is a super nice teacher who likes pretty much everything. Talk alot in class and you'll be on her fav. list. The tests are right off the study guides and you don't need to read the textbook until test-time to fill out the study guide. Pretty easy class and really easy to relate to the topics

Typical class: Chasek comes in and fumbles with her laptop and projector, repeatedly cursing technology. She assumes we're idiots and rants about wanting to teach us "how to read maps." She launches into long monologues about her son and her husband and her woooonderful semester in New Zealand. Then she proceeds to read her entire powerpoint aloud.
