Professor Nadell is awesome. She knows literally everything about Judaism & Jewish history. She's super respected and you're really lucky if you get to take her class. She's very nice and means well but she's also tough. She just has high expectations for her students. Participation in class discussions is mandatory, & get ready to read a LOT.

Comment:

It was a hard course, but very rewarding. I had some personal troubles that she was able to accommodate. You have to do the reading every class in order to participate, although she is willing to work out another option if you don't want to speak in class. There are a few papers but that's it. Genuinely a great person and professor.

Fantastic professor. Incredibly knowledgeable and great at conveying her knowledge to students. Her lectures are well structured and very clear cut. Assigns more readings than necessary, but you can usually tell which are the most important. She'll make you work, but you're better for it in the end.

Comment:

Professor Nadell was honestly my favorite professor first semester. Her class on Ancient & Medieval Jewish Civilization was super interesting, unbiased, not that hard and I learned so much. Going to her office hours she was eager to help and provided me great advice. Her speech and presentation is crystal clear. I strongly recommend her class.

It's hard to judge what she wants on papers sometimes, and she can be a hard grader. However, her midterm and final were reasonable, and the term paper wasn't too tough. Modest amount of reading, some books more important than others. Not a bad professor.

Professor Nadell is amazing! This is her area of expertise and as a result provides and incredible depth of knowledge for this class. I learned a lot, and there was an appropriate number and depth of assignments (midterm, final, two papers). Definitely take this class from her!

I had her for Ancient and Medieval Jewish Civ. and then Jewish American History, and both classes have been amazing! Professor Nadell knows her studies and is a great intellect in the field of Jewish studies. She bases much of the class off of the readings, so be sure to do all of your hw. Also, she gives papers that are fun to research.

If you get the opportunity to take Holocaust with Nadell, do not pass it up! Although she is not an expert on the Holocaust, she wants her students to understand the underlying reasons as to why the Holocaust occurred. This is my third class with Professor Nadell and I highly suggest you take her for any class.

Her Holocaust class is extremely interesting, she covers lots of different angles to paint the picture pretty clearly. She takes attendance, will give random in-class writing assignments on readings, and loves people who talk in her class. Overall one of my fave professors.

Professor is an amazing person and teacher! She truly cares about the well being of her students and she is truly passionate about her subject. I enjoyed her class so much, that I registered for a class with her next semester!
