Very very intelligent man! Every single class I learn something new. He often lets us out early! Participation is required, but if youre having a slow day you can get away with it. The workload is a normal amount, nothing too strenuous. If you're interesting in the topic, I guarantee you will learn amazing things.

Professor Derr is a silly, caring professor. Each class is a lecture, and sometimes he may even be bouncing around the room, knocking his head on the chalkboard to make his point. Sometimes, he can be hard to follow. I'd recommend that you participate in his class. This will save your grade if you don't do that well on the papers.

He's a very sensible guy. The work is important and worth it, I'd say. Sometimes I had a hard time feeling like I was heardthat my opinion wasn't worth listening to. Sometimes. Most of the time, he was very open to all opinions.

Professor Derr is my favorite professor at Clark. I have taken every class I can with him, and would take them again if I could. He respects students, puts so much time and effort into his classes, and cares deeply about his subject. His classes aren't easy, but I can't recall ever not enjoying his lectures. Derr is an asset to the university!

I had Derr for Medical Ethics and I loved it. He's a really smart guy and even though the class wasn't a breeze it was doable and you always knew what he wanted. Not a philosophy major but I still did well. Top notch teacher.

Derr is a star. I took Environmental ethics to fulfill a perspective and even though it had nothing to do with my major, I never missed a class.He will blow your mind and make it bubble. His lectures are active, lively, sharp, and to the point. He is by far the most engaged professor I have ever taken a class with. Brilliant.Take a class with him.

Patrick Derr is one of the most brilliant guys in his field. His class is amazing, and he always makes you think about things you've never thought of. I took AIDS pandemic for my First year seminar, and could not emphasize enough how amazing this class is. DEFF TAKE A DERR CLASS YOU WILL LOVE HIM. he is so talented, and funny, and knows his stuff.

i took "The AIDS Epidemic" as my freshman seminar, and fell in love with this professor. He expects your best work, and that you research, and know the proper facts about the issue. He's comical, engaging, and brilliant. He knows how to motivate you to do your best work, and simply exudes wisdom. BEST PROFESSOR POSSIBLE. He is a god amongst men.

I never missed a class. Even though they fell on Friday afternoons. This man is brilliant and hilarious. One class he purposely smacked himself in the head with a desk podium in order to show us how much he hated one of our readings. He does have high expectations, but he is not impossible. Awesome !
