Quizzes are usually announced, but some aren't. Lectures are very helpful in understanding the material. A lot of content needs to be learned and practiced on your own. Tests are usually replicas of the quizzes that serve as practice tests. If he gives you a key its an easy pass.

Comment:

Professor Madden was an amazing lecturer who always had some fun method of getting the students' attention. The quizzes were very useful and labs were never too tough, but could take some time. The only downside I can see is that he is an extremely tough grader and will take off large amounts of points for small mistakes.

He really gives no guidance and even if you get lost he is no help. If you don't have a CS background, he won't really help catch you up to speed, so be prepared to work hard.

Lectures are nearly non-existent, he mostly just shows up to answer questions. Very project-heavy and open-ended class. For the most part you get to use any engine, framework, etc. to make whatever cool games you want for Android or iOS. Largely graded on effort. Most fun I've had in a class!

He's a great, funny person. He will make sure you learn, if you want to learn. Will go over things as many times as you want. He gives out quizzes to get attendance sometimes. The only down side is his grading is unfair and very tough. Watch out for every word you write on his exams. If you study just a little bit, easiest class ever! Thumbs up.

Great professor. Very quick on his feet to answer your questions. He's not a master of classroom discipline, however. We had one girl that spoke CONSTANTLY out of turn, and he did nothing to correct the problem.

Comment:

Not that great at explaining the topic. It's hard to focus in his class as well. However, he tells you pretty much exactly what's on the exams which are very easy. No homework, 1 quiz, 3 tests. Labs can be kind of dumb but it's where you learn a lot if you get through them.
