Hands down the best teacher I've ever had the pleasure to learn from. Passionate, articulate, and open. He's an easy guy to communicate with and he really makes you feel why what he's teaching matters. Highly recommend taking anything you can by Beach.

PASSIONATE. This guy genuinely LOVES the subject, and it reflects in his teaching. Lots of assignments, fairly fair with the marks, just doesn't get them marked very promptly. Make sure to take notes of your own.

Let's see; he is intelligent about what he teaches, communicates his intelligence well, and sincerely cares about the success of his students. The only downside is hands back assignments so late they are of no use to learn from half the time.

Maybe the best teacher I've had in all my years of school. Took his Ethics class at night, and I always left after the three hour lecture with my mind blown open. Superb speaker who interacts openly with students and lectures with humor, enthusiasm & intelligence. The readings and coursework can be difficult but if you work you will be rewarded.

Paul was a great teacher. I didn't (and still don't) really care about philosophy at all but his class format made me want to actively discuss Aristotle, Plato, Locke, Nietzsche, Aquinas and others. Great feedback. Willing to meet. Fair marker and expects original thought. Should have taken 102 with him.

Beach, the man, the legend, the God. Beach is an incredibly intelligent guy that only expects people to not come into his class thinking you know more than others, because if you do, you will be hurt by him because he is smarter than you. Learn from what he has to say and talk lots to him outside of lecture and you'll learn a lot from him

Prof. Beach conveys the material in a way that is meaningfull and relavent to his students. Some of my peers were disapointed that this was not an 'easy' class, which it wasn't overly, but you would leave the class questioning how you saw the world, which is what a philosophy class should do, right?

His 101 class has the work load of a fourth year class. Not really worth the time. And he is disrespectful towards his students. One of those professors arrogant enough to think we have nothing better to do but his many assignments. Other classes? A job? No dice. His expectations are too high, and he's a poor teacher.

I loved this class. I took it at night and it was SOO interesting. He was very willing to help me out with the take-home midterms and despite having no clue as to how to "philosophize" I got my first University "A" in this supposedly hard class. If you're semi-responsible and like to debate, you are going to love this class. I PROMISE.

Paul is lazy about posting notes on his wed-stie and his in-class notes are complete CRAP! He seems to also enjoy inusling the student who contdric his points, threw "philisofical" explantions to why they are wrong. If he knows that you are confused about basic philisophical concepts, he will be completely un-willing to help you on essays and tests

A good teacher and an entertaining class... but for someone who had little interest in philosophy before (Nursing student taking the course ahead of time)... had my head spinning after every class. So confused!

had him a few years back when he was but a lowly TA. maybe he's changed since then, but his fervency for aristotle seemed more reactionary than helpful. ask questions, and he does a good job of elucidation and contextualization.
