Comment:
Professor Pergin is an okay professor to take for ECN 101. His lectures are pretty dry, but the needed info is there. I honestly was failing for half the quarter, but I picked up my act for the final and ended having my final be worth 90%. Averages are hella low on exams, so the curve at the end of the quarter is huge. I got a 66% and it was a B+.

Comment:
Bergin was a nice, nerdy, but slightly boring professor. class consisted of long monotonous lectures with rare jokes. final grades are curved and he takes the highest of (15% hmwrk+35%MT+50%final or 15%hmwrk+85% final) only 6 hmwrks. Know how to do homework problems, go to discussion, and try practice exams. easiest class of the 100 series so far.

Comment:
This particular class with prof. Bergin is actually pretty good, but understandably not for everyone. If you're interested in exchange rates and money markets, take it with him since he explains these topics very clearly. He always reviews what he taught previously and discusses some recent articles. Overall, a solid professor and knowledgeable.

Felt like I learned a lot which was good. Tests are pretty tricky, filled with a good amount of curveballs compared to prior exams and hw's. Lectures are like watching the grass grow. Not a very friendly or approachable guy. All in all, not what you want but probably what you deserve.

The averages on his exams are somewhat low but there is a curve. HW is online & similar to MC on exams & he also posts old exams as practice. His class is pretty doable considering I prioritized other classes over his & still got decent grades on exams. I liked his lectures & went to all of them. Not a bad professor to take ecn101 with.

This class is certainly challenging but it is very doable! Hw problems and past exam questions are very similar to the exam questions you'll see. The final is weighted very heavily in this class (40-90% based on your MT scores). Professor Bergins lectures are very clear and he is a very carring instructor. Overall, I recommend him!

Super enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches. I actually look forward to his lectures. Tests are difficult but his lectures make it worth it. Sometimes digresses and talks about current events. Overall entertaining, clear, super friendly and willing to answer questions. I'd take him again if it weren't for the tests.

Great Professor. Clearly enjoys teaching and explains theoretical models really clearly so it is best to show up to class. Gives practice midterms closely related to midterms. Hw is similar to multiple choice in exam. GO TO DISCUSSION! They give tips and answers to the hw. Professor is interesting at lectures, so it isn't boring.

2 Midterms, one final and homework. Homework is 15% of the grade while he weights the midterms and the final such that you get the highest score out of the three. Very good professor but tests are very difficult

Bergin is part of elite economists at UC Davis. His consistency with the book and clear expectations from students, left no place to complain. I missed a few lectures but had access to his notes. Overall fair.

He takes no interest whatsoever in his students. I went to ask him for help with the class only to be sent away saying "I can't make exceptions for individual students, drop the class or get a tutor" and all i wanted to do was set up an appointment because i had a class during his office hours. Worst teacher of my life
