Too bad he's leaving. Good lecturer, although 2/3 - 1/3 of the lectures were complete fluff, but entertaining fluff. All-around nice guy. Majority of grade is based on TA, class is easy but a good amt of work. My only complaint about duax is his cat killing confession and taking 2 points off my blank because I got discreet an discrete mixed up.

Material for this class is mostly self explanatory. People could probably walk in and take the multiple choice portion of the midterm or final and still do fairly well on them. Lecture can be very interesting at times and is fun to go to. This class can be easy if you get a good TA but if you get a tough TA, then this class can be really difficult.

Duax is good but his TA is ****. She does not like guys. In dicussion girls would get outstanding scores for mediocre presentations, where as myself and other guys in the class recieved poor grades for similar, and in some cases better presentations. If you are a girl, take this class. If you are a guy, be prepared to work hard for a low grade.

Some unsettling news-Professor Duax has just been asked to leave by the communication dept!He's currently teaching CMN 3, but is leaving in the middle of the quarter, as he says he doesn't want to stay where he isn't wanted - if this makes you mad, do something about it!Go to the COM dept, tell the dean - don't let UCD lose a great professor!

The class is a great introducation to the general principles of communication. It's set up like a high school class with a few projects/presentations, midterm, essay, and a final. Read the book, go to the lectures and it's an easy A, and a B if you completely slack off. Duax rambles and tangencial, so I just took notes on the reading during class.

EASY BREEZY! I can see why they call this an easy A class. Duax is a great speaker, not much of a teacher... but is just very energetic... he likes to talk a lot, and about anything. He summarizes everything, but you still need to read to gather more info for the tests.

the coolest guy u will ever meet! he makes communication soooo incredibly easy! talking about fishing for topics and warming the climate. tests are straight forward to the point, as long as you do the projects and go to lecture u will be well off. hes a really great proffessor..just go to lecture..the workload may seem a lot but its soooo easy!

i agree w/everyone else.Duax is horrible.@ 1st, I thought he was an ok guy & he graded objectively, not expecting u 2 be a NATURAL SPEAKER.BUT this fool expects u 2 speak as if you've done it a million times in front of people.seems like some people don't even put half as much effort in2 the class just b/c they are natural speaker.unfair grader!
