Comment:
This class was so hard. The readings every week for the discussion group were at least 30 pages printed off on-line. The readings were difficult and the quizzes were hard too, the tests were almost impossible to make an A on (about 100 ID's to know and about 4 essays to learn). I would not recommend this class

Great prof overall, learned every one's name in a class of 50. Interested in topic and knew to keep people interested. The tests are easy, all short answer and essay but he gives you what you need to know before. Great prof!

He taught the class as if we were all graduate students stuyding History. There was too much reading. If you really put the time in you could do all right i believe, but not me. it was too hard for me. so i dropped it.

This class is a great opportunity to learn about the Soviet Union. It is not easy and there is a lot of reading that must be done to fully unbderstand the lectures and films. I would recommend this class to anyone.

He is a good teacher. The class is interesting. You MUST READ all the articles, textbook, and required books. The exams are pretty straight forward listen to the advice he gives about the essays. The tests are 5-7 id's from his lecture outlines and an essay that requires putting all the concepts together. All in all a good class. Moderately easy.

This class was very interesting and fun to go to. I never missed a day and I ended up with an A. The only draw back was that it was a lot of reading. All in all a great class.

Unloads piles of useless info on you that is not on the test. This compared with long readings and complex tests makes for a non-enjoyable experience. Figures we're historians.

Not only did I appreciate his enthusiasm in his lectures, but the interesting additional insight he gave into the topic matter, providing us with information not found in the text but details that help us better understand the social and cultural time we are studying. His courses were my favourites in the History department.

Don't listen to the b.s. If you're mildly intellegent, you'll find his classes very interesting, but you have to work and it ain't easy.

This guy is the hottest thing in the world, and a super nice guy. He promotes great discussion for those of you interested in an honor's level class. I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. He gets on his stool and rants on topics for the whole time. There is so much filler that you can not figure out what is important.

Hagenloh has a serious communication problem. His class structure needs work as discussion ends up muddled and lectures are filled with needless info. He has unrealistic goals for his students. However, his dedication to research is obvious.

Dr. Hagenloh is clearly passionate about his research interests; however, he is largely unable to convey this passion to his students. I found his class to be too advanced for the undergraduates. He is not a good educator.
