Dr P is challenging, witty, fair, and he genuinely cares about the development of his students. More than any other, these lectures continue to effect how I view everything (politics, faith, the meaning of life). I am a better Man for having taken this course. Successful students pts attention, ask questions, read, and turnoff their phones.

Dr. Peterson is very knowledgable in the field, which I think was one of the biggest problems when taking the class. Even though it was an introductory class to Politics, since he knew so much, he treated it as though we should just know the material. There were three grades: 2 tests and a final exam. Very reading intensive and the tests are hard.

He knows his material, one of the smartest and most knowledgeable teachers I've met here at Coastal. He goes over everything in class, if you pay attention in class, you will do well. You must be a good student, if you aren't willing to work, don't take him. However, I also don't believe you should be in college if you aren't willing to work.

Had him for my first semester of classes at CCU in 2014. Early on, it was obvious that Dr. Peterson was going to be tough to follow. Very often went on irrelevant rants, and ALL he does is read the book to you. We maybe analyzed the text three times in the many months of class. Very opinionated and quite bigoted. Insulted my home country to my face

Amazing man with some great stories and facts about days long gone. Any student who thinks he merely reads to the class, is a moron. He points out every detail that is pertinent to your success by literally stating, "This will be worth two points on your final exam, pay attention."

Fantastic lecturer and overly fair on tests. If you take notes and listen attentively he will cover everything on the test. Also, extra credit answers can be found by listening to his seemingly irrelevant comments (eg the 1954 World Series champions). Take this course and you'll be a better man for it.

Professor Peterson is a unique character in the department. He stands out with his love for political theory and his original way of teaching. Those of you who are in school for a degree and not for education, might not want to take his classes. Dr. Peterson is absolutely fair in his grading and testing techniques . Keep up good work, Professor!

Peterson is brilliant, challenging and fair (although he would likely challenge the use of this word). Attendance is essential and you will not pass without attending. This course covers the development of PoliSCI as a discipline from Aristotle through Hobbes/Marx and up to Strauss/Weber. I suggest that any serious student should take this course.

Dr. Peterson is old fashioned in his teaching methods but shows extensive knowledge in the field. The class I took was intro to political theory and if it weren't for him reading the textbook to us and explaining each passage I doubt anyone would have been able to understand it. There are only 3 grades in the class so each one of them counts.

I took an upper level class of his several years ago. The only reason I learned anything is because I read the book. Half the class was him babbling about which female celebrities were the prettiest or sports. Never willing to help outside class. We are members of the same church and he puts us to shame because he is just rude, uncaring and pompous

Attend class, be prepared, pay attention: you will be sufficiently prepared for his exams. He knows the material and teaches it thoroughly. Otherwise, he's se×ist, condescending, and contributes to a hostile academic environment. Avoid the course when he's instructing. You've been warned.

He is very difficult, must read black board essays for exams, only 3 exams given the entire semester the only assignments. He claims everything is discussed in class, don't think so. I managed to pull a B+ not sure how.

AWFUL!! His lectures make no sense at all, his tests are hard as can be and what he has on the tests, isn't even gone over in class. Yes, he gives you a study guide for the tests but over half the information on the "study guide" isn't in your notes or the book. Basically, if you have him, switch out ASAP to be able to pass the class.

If you're a cool, easy going, likable, funny, charismatic person DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! Peterson is so old fashion, it's sickening. If you like Peterson something is wrong with your functioning as a person. He reads to you like you're 5 and makes very crude and offensive remarks, some even racial. Should be fired! Makes the department look bad..
