"Lectures" are very repetitive over multiple days. Be ready to hear the same material repeated as new multiple times. Opinionated in a way that could alienate students, like political or world views. Movies are entertaining though.

As a teacher, I would not recommend Paul Potter. He is a nice man, but I didn't feel like I finished the class with any new information than when I started. The lectures could have been more on topic and less about himself. Also, if you don't do well on the outlines you will not get a good grade.

Comment:
His speech class is fairly easy. He's willing to help you out if he likes you and sees that you are trying. I had a hard time speaking in front of the class and he worked with me. Tests are super easy, speeches have to be between 5-7mins. He tells stories about his life a lot though. Those can get incredibly boring.

I liked him to begin with however as time goes on he gets pompous and egotistical. He was openly rude to students in class, very unavailable in offics hours, when he was he was not helpful, and he is way past his expiration date. He is no doubt the worst teacher I have ever had the pleasure to have. I really expected more from a teacher here.

In the beginning, I found him to be very opinionated and rude, but by the end of the class I respected him. We had a lot of lectures, and if you did not have a book, notes would be impossible to write. Overall, it was a good class. He gave extra credit as well. Also, the final was optional.

He does things his way, has unique insight if rather dated, his stories can be enlightening and sometimes redundant, read the book, listen to what he says, ask questions, think for yourself and you'll do fine. Dr. Potter will be the first to admit he's not perfect, how many other profs will say that? He's an acquired taste, but can be rewarding.

The worst teacher i've ever had in my life, hands down, at ANY level. He is an incredibly negative person, wasting large amounts of class to complain about his colleagues. Assigns grades based on students ability to feed his ego. If you refuse, you get a B.
