This is not an easy A!! You definitely have to take very good notes in class or you will not pass the exams. He makes you study 50 photos, the photographer, the title and date and then only puts like 10 on the exam. You also have to know the context in which they were taken. His exams are intense but you really do learn a lot and he is nice!

Yes, you'll need to know 50 or so images for the exam, but they are a good representation of the stuff that is covered in the course. And they allow you to show you know about the styles, movements and historical stuff. You need to go to class, take good notes and study, but that's what we're there for, right?!

Its 1 Midterm, 1 Paper and the Final (which is 40% of the grade) The class itself is easy because its just lectures every class. No homework. Its hard to take good notes but try. The midterm and final are HARD because he makes you study from 60 pieces but he only ends up putting like 15 on the them, each. If you're a hard worker, you'll do fine.

He is a very caring professor. Easy to talk to. Gives clear and informative lectures. Encourages class discussion. Very nice guy, just respect him. Don't try to take advantage. Not many assignments. Just focus on the the Slide lists for the Mid Term and Final and try your best on the paper and you'll do fine. Take lots of notes and PAY ATTENTION!

Wasn't interested in art but he made the class enjoyable. Not an easy A, you definitely have to go to class and pay attention to what he says about specific paintings. Exams are kinda hard since you have to memorize artist/date/name of 50+ paintings. It isn't the easiest class but it definitely isn't impossible. He's very helpful and a cutie.

Prof. Sternberger is the best professor I've ever had. His teaching method is illuminated: he won't spoon-feed you the answers, but he lines up all the information so that you have to figure it out yourself. He opens the door but doesn't push you through. Open-minded, didactic, patient, and never condescending. He's one in a million.

I honestly thought I was going to fail this class but ended up with a B. I'm a business major so I was lost in this class comparing to the other art students. He gives you 50 pictures and you have to memorize the artist,date, and title for the final/mid and he gives you 50 vocab to memorize and he picks like 10. def talk to him if u need help!

awesome teacher. He knows so much about his field and apparently he's a "big deal" in the art program @ rutgers..with reason. He stimulates you to think about your particule subject of art that you're studying. And he always teaches to the goal and purpose of the class. Even if the subject matter is boring at first, you come out appreciating it.

He's the best. very helpful and engaging. he's not boring, he knows his stuff, very educated. challenges his students to think. I took 2 classes with him,I got a B+ in both. the lectures are interesting and he's so adorably cute too.
