Comment:

Dr. Schlax is a great professor. She knows her stuff and is very passionate about her endeavors. Try to take a class with her. Her tests are often abnormal, making the grading tough, but material is well laid out and presented. Very forgiving.

She whizzes through her lectures, often let us out 30 minutes early. She wasn't very clear on tough concepts and didn't expand very much. The test were extremely hard, but you get a notecard (like a cheat-sheet) to write formulas etc. all over. She started using OWLs this year and those were INCREDIBLY time consuming. Lectures are helpful, but definitely confusing without prior Chem experience. Paula, while dry, has a great sense of humor. Office hours very helpful. Cengage homework is copious, but doable. Get on it early. Tests were incredibly hard for me. Multiple choice, with multiple possible answers. Very far from my strong suit.

Comment:

She's really an amazing professor! Explains things very clearly, good jokes and very approachable. She will definitely help you however u want if u approach her. Be ready to be responsible, she'll give u everything you need it's up to u to do what she recommend. Her leadership style is definitely laissez-faire.

Prof Schlax is great. Her lectures are entertaining and informative. There are 3 midterms, and the online OWL homework is INSANELY long, but overall the class was fun. Be ready to do a lot of homework!!

I have learnt most of knowledges before this class, so it's not hard for me. But for my friends who haven't done it before, it can be quite hard to follow sometimes. But if you ask questions during lectures, she answers to them clearly. Hate the online OWL homework. So repetitive and annoying, and cost nearly $80. 3 mid-terms.

She's the best! Her lectures are succinct, informative, and I always walk out knowing I learned something. As someone who hadn't taken chemistry before, I'm glad I had Paula as a professor. She's extremely approachable and even learned my name by the end of the semester (kinda shocking, it was a big lecture).

Paula is a great teacher. She explains very clearly, and if you ask a question she will rephrase her explanation so you DO understand. She also throws in hilarious comments that you only catch if you've been listening closely. It's always incredibly disappointing if you happen to zone out at the moment the class starts laughing :)

Paula kicked my butt the whole semester...probably because she knows i'm a biochem major. her tests are mad-crazy-hard, but if you don't understand the material by the end of that course you ARE stupid. She is a fantastic prof. I worked as hard as i ever had in a science class, and eeked by with a B...which is a lot more than most people can say

I LOVE PAULA. She's great to work with, really helpful, and makes even the dryest topics ooze with humor. That was kinda gross. Sorry. Still, despite being a hardcore greenbay fan and has moods that change with her team's success - her test questions are quite funny and she's very witty.
