The class is pretty straight forward. She uses power points in her lectures which she posts on Moodle. 3 or 4 tests (MC, short answer) As long as you study with her notes you'll be okay. There is one oral presentation- You choose a topic from her list. I never used the book but some test q's were only from book.

Topics are interesting but this lady doesn't make you feel as if you are learning anything. She is very cold, and has a sarcastic mouth, but doesn't know the appropriate time to use it.

I found a lot of the information very interesting, however, she makes us learn about studies that have long since been disproven. Also, she is not a compassionate woman, even if you are very nice to her. I tried to get extra help and she used a condescending tone towards every question I asked. Avoid if possible.

For a psych professor she is not very understanding, patient or compassionate with her students. When asking questions she talks to you as if your a mind reader and if you don't understand what she says sell comment with a "its in the syllabus" which its not because the syllabus is very vague.

Never takes attendance. Doesn't try too hard to get close with students. Sit in the front, so she knows your name to face. Study sheets don't do much, she puts things on exams that she mentioned once. Doesn't really like answering questions during class, she'll come off very impatient and direct. She was my least favorite for psych, but not awful.

DeCooke has no decorum when it comes to her students. She is blatantly rude and condescending. She'll answer your questions with an attitude and sarcasm. She is not passionate about teaching and she is bland. She also deducts points for things she didn't specify in the syllabus. With that being said don't take her if you don't have to! (pathetic)

Dr.DeCooke is a great professor! if you take psych seriously and its your major you'll find her class a breeze. if you seek her help, she is more than welcome to assist you. you CANNOT b.s. her classes because she just wont care when she gives you an F, other than that i had an amazing experience being a student in her class.

Hard, cold, inconsiderate professor. Was in two of her classes last semester, gave me a really hard time and offered no help whatsoever. When asked, she often replies with "its your responsibility" or "you can't expect professors to care about you". Got a C- for the first time in a while. Avoid under all circumstances.

Hard for an intro class. Has high expectations, which only pushes her students to be the best they can be. Sure, she can be cold sometimes, but she knows when you don't try. Her exam questions are incredibly vague for example (not literally) "the ___ is hot as ___ is cold" .. mind you we are tested on more than 3-4 chapters at once. Trying to imply for the final exam that since it is optional and your not sure if it will boost up your grade or not, then don't waste your time..aka don't waste her time as well.

the only class i've ever failed in my life. i was so mortified. she is cold-hearted and likes to talk about how she's a single mother living in the modern world and how she lost 40 pounds at least once a class. i missed a class and approached her and she told me to email her. i did, and she never responded.

my first semester as a transfer i walked up to her open door n said "excuse me, im new, someone referred me to you as an adviser." she replied with, "excuse you... cant you read the door, not my office hours. i have too many students anyway, fine someone else" Her classes arent any better. I took this course online and found it challenging in a positive way. Taking it online helped! From the comments here, I wouldn't want to meet her. As a student with physical ailments, I have had issues with cold-hearted professors penalizing me and an indifferent administration. I passed because it was only about my ability to complete the work.

mean. and cold. frosty. doing well in her class means basically understanding everything. (i asked her for help the day it was due and she said "you missed class, it's your fault, i can't help you" and i said "i had to go to a florida for a funeral" and she said "not my problem" and went off on her way.) though i highly recommend taking practicum
