This class is very interesting. She gives quizzes over the readings but they are very easy. The tests are just essays and she's not that hard of a grader. She's a good choice for this class!

One of the sweetest, most caring professors at UD. Dr. DesAutels is very empathetic, a great quality for someone teaching a class on ethical theories. If you want a fun, challenging elective, I'd highly recommend Dr. DesAutels!

At first, Dr. DesAutels seems intimidating - especially during office hours. Overtime, however, you will find that she is one of the most caring individuals at UD. In Ethical Theory, she allows you to rewrite your papers, if you choose. You also learn some very interesting ideas in Ethical Theory. If you take the class, prepare well for Hume!

She is usually very understanding if you can't turn a paper in on time. If you do hold objecting views to her's, DO NOT express them, as this will get you on her bad side. If you are able to distance her character and teaching style from these views, you will find that Dr. DesAutels is highly caring. She teaches the subject matter very effectively

Desautels assigned the teaching of downloaded article reviews to the students while she took the backseat. Minimalist teaching style lead to awkward and disappointing learning environment. I wish I could get a tuition refund. Class was nothing but busy work papers with no coherence on topics or discussions! All busy work! Honestly disappointed!

Grade is based off of essays instead of in class tests. Assigned readings and quizzes every class. She grades essays based on how well you use grammar and how well you argue your point rather than on the basis of right or wrong.

Never take this class. She is the spawn of satan. Completely unfair grader, never actually says what she is looking for until she hands back your paper with a F on it. Quiz every class over some stupid reading that makes no sense and its impossible to get a 3 out of 3 unless you are a girl, a feminist or are very lucky.

Dr. DesAutels is very passionate about the subject, but has some unrealistic expectations about entry level philosophic writing. Her grading can be tough, but it's possible to get an A. As long as you come to every class prepared for the day, you should be fine. No tests or exams, just papers! The in-class discussions are really interesting, too!

Peggy is a great professor. I had her for contemp. ethics seminar and she is very knowledgeable about a variety of subjects. You have a reading for every class and a summary due, but it's only 1-2 pages. We had one 10-12 page paper at the end that she helped us with as much as we could. Great class, I definitely recommend it.

Have to go to every class or you are done. She grades the 3 papers very hard, and you have a quiz EVERYDAY of class. I wouldnt take her again. She is extremely feminist and talks about sex and death all class.

Her class was not all too bad, and it is POSSIBLE to do well in her class. I tried hard in that class and my grade proved it, my friends who tried an average amount had average grades. I'd say its fair. When it comes to DesAutels, what you give is what you get... the way it should be.

must go to class every day. lots of reading and a lot of work. Interesting class discussions and is funny. grade based on three essays, which if you read the assigned readings and tell her what she wants are easy. if you are not a good writer don't take this class.

She's not there to teach, she's there to impose her atheist and feminist views on the class. Your grade rests on three essays, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to do well on them, she'll find something wrong no matter what and she'll be rude about it. She is extremely arrogant and her class was pointless.

AVOID AT ALL COST. nice in-class discussions but get the feeling "wait, what did I just learn" right as you walk out the door. her 2 4-page essay exams are killers and unfortunately most of your grade. the essay exams are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do well on. your view cannot stray from HER'S by any means or you "misrepresent" the philosophers.

Dr. DesAutels is very rigid in her own viewpoints and is quick to pounce on anyone with beliefs she does not concur with, especially faith. She literally laughed at those of us who said we believe in God. She will definitely ramble on about feminism and tie everything back to how it's unfair towards women. Enjoy!

DesAutels class is extremely complicated for and introduction class. Most members of my class received C's or lower. Attendence is mandatory. You will spend a fair amount of time discussing feminist ideas and varies other topics. Overall i would not recommend this teacher if you hope to have a halfway decent GPA.

Interesting, but hard. You're either a favoirte or you're not, you either get it or you don't and it was difficult for me to consider her class an intro class. I felt like it was too difficult for intro class- like we learned about ethical study (which are 300 level classes)
