Comment:

Peggy was my favorite professor I have had at Umass so far. The class is so long but it goes by very fast so its not awful. She cares about her students and wants to see everyone do well. Due dates are always flexible if you "need more time" and there was little to no work needed to be done outside of class. Very very easy class and a great prof.

Peggy really does care about her students. She was a great professor who let us write about pretty much anything. She really helped my writing a lot, so I thank her for that. She might seem a little biased, but a good teacher overall. I would take another class with her if I could.

Comment:

Meh. Peggy was nice enough and did want us to do well, but she didn't seem like she really knew what she was talking about. She was never able to effectively defend her reasoning when it was challenged, which cost her a lot of respect. It was an impossible class to fail, but felt kind of pointless. Not so great, but not really evil either.

Peggy is a little all over the place. Assignments lack clarity, which she says is intentional. I wasn't a fan of the class, but it's pretty easy. Assignments are mostly 1 page papers each week. You'd have to screw up majorly to fail (PassFail class)

Nice enough and understanding, but very scatterbrained. Class discussions are not very substantive and will often "loop". Easy grader (pass/fail anyway) so minimal effort is needed. The experience was just very tedious.

I was in Honors class so it was just 9 of us. We did a lot of drafts and revision processes for our essays. Her feedback was generally helpful, and all of us in the class got good grades. She was a good teacher.

I absolutely hate going to this class, and I loved English in high school it was my best subject. She doesn't grade fairly unless you right it exactly how she says to. Takes off points for not writing things that she says would have "made it better". Avoid her if you like english class.

In order to get a good grade in her class just agree with her. If she says something about writing, just nod and smile. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR GRADE TO ARGUE WITH HER!!! She does how ever , pick favorites and force you to write her way. Her class did not improve my writing due to the content but it was good practice, her comments aside of course.

woods is the worst teacher I've had at umass so far. Not only were her discussions redundant and shallow, she was a biased grader. She has an annoying personality and the class was frustratingly slow.

horrible, completely useless teacher. i learned nothing at all. had annoying hand motions, was unable to look at her students directly in the eye when speaking to them. blatantly played favorites with her students. likes her title of doctor a little too much.
