I took Perry's class as a freshman at WWU. This was in 1986. I thought it would be an easy class. It wasn't. He was a tough grader, but fair. I actually learned a lot about writing, and film. He was also one of those characters in life you will never forget. I'm not sure he is still teaching, but at the time I recommended his class to others.

It has been 25 years since Perry took me through his acid trip, though accurate, critique of modern art. It was also a critique of all establishmentarians who set themselves up as experts when they are really conformist sycophants. Take him even if you hate him because you must understand him to consider yourselves educated.

Perry is a fun person, but he doesn't make a very good professor. He's one who very much likes the sound of his own voice. He has a lot to say about the movies he chooses to screen in his class, but his exams don't pertain as much to the content of the films as much as they hold his opinion.

Wow...I've read over the comments for him and I have to say I'm shocked. His teaching style is a very dynamic. Even though my class was early in the morning, I was never asleep in class (I couldn't afford to miss any of his antics). A great teacher, obviously misunderstood by the other people rating. I would take any class by him.

Love Perry Mills. At first you don't know what to think, but if you are on the same vibe(open and don't take things way to seriously)he is amazing. He knows what he is teaching and he does it in a way that is interesting and relatable. Easy and fun class if you put in the effort. I have nothing but good things to say about Mills. Take his classes!

Interesting person, but horrible professor. Tests are cryptic; even though he says it's a "reading" test, it makes no sense whether you go to class or not. Also, if you're sensitive to insults about Christianity/you're being a student/Western, then I suggest not taking this class.

TAKE HIS CLASS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. This guy is crazy, but taking his class is an experience like no other. I now have memories that I will remember till the day I die. Of all the classes I have taken this is the only one I actually enjoyed going to.

...Mills was nuts. He mostly rambled about his hatred of various aspects of society. He spends about 10% of the time talking about relevant things. Most of what he said was so outrageous I couldn't help but pay attention though... some of the movies were really great despite being extremely off-beat. His tests are... strange...

Mills is a horrible teacher. Basically, all you have to do is watch the movies and remember what happens in them - That's what is on the test. You don't have to listen to a word the teacher says. He just rants on and on about the craziest stuff. So it is an easy class, just watch all the short and long films.

I love Perry Mills. He is a critical thinker who tries to teach us publicy-educated-numskulls how to critically think. Political correctness isn't on his agenda. Your eduaction is. Someone needs to make a documentary about Perry Mills. He probably should be teaching at a better university to a different audience. His style is very interactive and engaging, but he's only a great teacher if he's got students that want to learn something. Better than Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society.

I had Perry as a Prof for a Theater/Arts film class back in '84. I thought I could breeze in and scoop up an A. Wrong! Perry didn't let anyone breeze through anything. He actually demanded me to think and when I resisted he goaded, challenged, berated me into at least trying. I respect the hell out of the man and consider him a damn good professor.
