His syllabus was straight forward. You know exactly what he wants and he gives you space to really create a paper on the topic you want. No extra stress. Extremely knowledgable and funny professor!

By far one of the worst professors I have ever had. For one, he is so monotone. Needless to say, it is impossible to stay awake/pay attention during a 2-hour class of that. All he does is read off of the PowerPoints so really attendance doesn't benefit you much. He tests on minuscule statistics rather than actual concepts, which is frustrating.

Comment:
I would say his tests are fair (practice questions included), but do require memorization (dates, legislation, specific #s from charts + graphs). Final exam is extremely fair - although they're not the same questions as the practice final, they're quite similar. Surprisingly, my views on juvenile justice are more liberal after taking this course.

I was actually interested in the discussion topics and did not feel pressured to talk because of my participation mark. He will give you a good participation mark as long as you come to class and and do the readings (unlike other legal studies seminars). The essay was long (5000) words worth 60%, but you're able to choose your own topic.

Really nice prof and cares about his students. I took a seminar with him and as long as you participate in discussions or just send him notes that you made on the reading, he'll give you participation marks for it. Also really easy grader. Great prof!

Carrington was a clear professor so it will pay to attend his lectures as he clarifies the material. The textbook assigned was not necessary in order to do well; I did not open it once throughout this course. He did tend to leave awkwardly long pauses for questions, however, he simplified the material in a way which was easy to understand.

I really enjoyed this class. The material is really interesting and I found the testing extremely fair. Carrington may not be the most emphatic professor but he does an excellent job of delivering the information. Definitely recommend this course

As a person, he is a nice guy. As a professor, he does seem to drone on at times. However, he is understanding and makes his tests fair.

BORING. The definition of monotone. Reads from his own power points, talks about random points that are also boring. If you can stay awake in his class you're amazing.

the prof was clear n passionate about his area of study. but this course doesn't fit to be a sociology course in my point of view because other than a few lectures on soc theories, the rest are psych theories, statistics and legal procedures. lowered my average a lot. grading seems to be tough. i recommend taking 222 if ur interest in legal studies

Soc 321 was wonderful as a distance ed course. Assignments useful for preparing for the exam as they were all multiple choice. Exam tested what you expected which was great! Audio lectures concise and easy to understand.

This prof is very clear and concise, but I can see how some could find him boring. If you are interested in the subjects he is a very good prof. I took an on campus class, and a distance one and they both followed the same structure. his tests are very fair and easy to write.
