One of the best teachers I ever had. Really interesting and fun class. He wants you to do well. I might pursue a degree in this field because of this class.

He loves his work and is easy to get along with. Cares about his students and gives ample opportunities for extra credit. Take this class it is well constructed and you can easily get a B or A.

The worst thing about this class and professor is the fact that the tests ask detailed and specific questions and his study guides are so obscure all he states is "know about tides" or "tectonic plates" etc. When he says this he means know EVERYTHING about that subject. find a different professor.

This is a great professor to take, he curves tests and give extra credit more than anyone else I have ever had. He cares about what he is teaching and he does really interesting things, for example he brought in 2 live Portugese Man of Wars when we covered Cniderians. Interesting class, easy A go for it.

This class was extremely boring.Showed a disturbing moving on killing seals in class without a thought students might not take it well. The tests were extremely hard considering it was nothing like what we had to listen to in class and also had no study guides

This class is really hard...his lectures in class have almost nothing to do with whats on the test. Plus the book is really boring so its hard to read it to actually understand. He's a really nice guy but boring and its hard to pay attention. One good thing is he always curves the tests...if you show up for class.

I am about to take his test where I am pretty sure I will get a C even though I have studied old tests and attended every class. I am taking the class as a prerequisite. I did not expect a non-science major class to be as unorganized, and hard. The book is useless as is trying to talk to him about your grade. WARNING! Take a different class!

a teacher that thinks he has the answer and doesn't need to be up on issues. his class probably has changed very little in about 15 years. very lazy. it was a high school class, very nonacedemic and presented childishly with no debate or thought process. if you are serious about your acedemics take someone else.

Uses oceanography as a median for his liberal political viewpoints on environmental issues...before the exam he told us all the things we could do to help the environment, including, not having kids.....

I feel that he knows the subject but I feel that he retains other theories and ideas that he doesn't like. The world isn't coming to an end in the next few decades! I felt the class could have been more but when he teaches his ideas with no debate or other challenging theories it just loses its impact. study hard, get an A or B, and just go to FSU

It is an intersting class if you like the topic. The tests are hard because they aren't based on the lecture or book, you need to fing the old test from the library if you want to get some anwsers rigth. If you need to take a science req. take another class.

Um, if your just taking this class to fulfill the credits for science, take another course. wayyyy too difficult for the beginning level, he thinks that you should know as much as him by test dates. nice guy im sure, but boring and hard! if you dont study at least an hour or two a night you will NOT PASS!

The class is kinda boring so get a friend to sign you in. He only covers about 25% of the material in class. Most of the questions on the tests comes from old tests in the library. He curves tests by a lot. He gives a lot of extra credit. You don't really need the book. You would only need it to find the answers to the old tests. Study them!

Attendance is *highly encouraged* Tests are HARD so study the book and make a copy of old tests that are on-reserve in the library. He does NOT cover/teach everything that is on the test. Do all the extra-credit work that you can. He's a smart prof but tried too hard to "be hip." Beware: he occasionally brings politics into class.

Fair tests, good curve system, really interested in the subject matter, and there was the oppurtunity to earn a possible 9 extra credit points on your final grade. Sadly, lots of students are plain dumb and fail this class. If you can pick out which ones posted which reviews on here you will do great in his class.

He isn't one of the easiest teachers on campus, but I didn't study much at all for any of his tests and still managed to pull a B on the course. Anything he lectures about in class is basically useless. Just read the book the night before the test, and make sure you go to class... His curves on the test definetly help you.

unless you are majoring in OCE i would not recommend taking his class! he doesn't give you a review for the test (which are VERY VERY hard!!) and then once you take the test he wont let you have them?? i studied and studied for his tests.. failed every one of them! if you do HAVE to take him.. the old test in the library do help
