I took him in D term 2017. Really straight forward and interesting class. The grading is as follows: Class attendance and in-class discussion: 10% Canvas discussion board participation: 15% Map quiz: 5% Film/newsreel paper: 10% 2 Exams 30% each. Be active in his class for easy participation credit and he grades fairly. Nice guy as well.

British Empire was an interesting subject and i'm glad I took the class. The structure of the class actually kept me awake during the two hour lectures. Definitely a lot of reading. Has discussion homework, which you receive full credit as long as you do them. Exams are all short answer but he posted the questions before hand.

Very interesting subject, though the professor was not great. Very soft spoken, frequent pauses and silences during lectures, often ran out of material. Did not give any feedback on my tests and paper although I did receive a good grade. Overall, professor isn't great but the class is interesting enough to make up for it.

He just wasn't good for MQP. he doesn't give clear feedback AT ALL. and doesn't seems to care much. I get anxious having to get ready for meetings with him.

One of the top professors at WPI, period. Have had him for two classes so far and definately would take him again. If you go to class and participate it is an easy A. He is an awesome professor and just all around a great guy.

This guy is just awesome. Teaches all of the interesting classes on the British Empire and other Empire-related subjects. He's friendly and helpful, although he's sometimes kind of soft-spoken. Overall, he's not a hard grader, just make sure you listen to his lectures and participate in class discussions and you'll do fine.

Never before has one man so completely missed the point of the IQP. A term, it was forcefully rammed into our skulls that we worked for our sponsor, it was as if we were employees. Come B term, the only thing that matters is the paper. Screw the project itself, all that matters is that you produce a paper that neatly fits his cookie-cutter vision.

Had this guy for IQP, goddamn he sucks. Makes inappropriate comments often (berating a team in front of everyone as a joke). Very inflexible with his schedule but will always ask you to change yours to accommodate him. Very smug person, makes you want to hit him. Will never admit if he's wrong.
