Hawkins is awesome! However, most of your grades in the class are determined by your TA (good or bad, I'll let you decide). Hawkins truly generates an interest in the Bible for the class. However, as an Evangelical Christian I would have preferred a few changes in the material taught, but hey-- its a secular university.

Peter Hawkins is the best professor I've had at BU. He is extraordinarily smart, but very down to earth and takes time to actually develop relationships with his students. Unfortunately, he is leaving BU for Yale at the end of the 2007-08 year, so take as many classes as you can with him.

One of the best professors at BU. This man will make you want to change your major and maybe even your life. His lectures are always on-topic, in-depth, and interesting. It's hard not to pay attention to him when he's speaking.

Peter Hawkins is by far the best professor and teacher I've ever had. This is counting grad school, high school, courses at other schools, and everything else. He's brilliant and knowledgable. He seems to genuinely care and even takes time to have lunch with students. LOVE LOVE LOVE him.

One of the best courses I have taken. Professor Hawkins is a master in the field of Dante studies and a terrific lecturer; more than that, he seems to be just a terrific person. Probably as good as or better than any English course I've taken--does literature better than the lit. professors!

Captivating lecturer. Sometimes he makes you read scripture and it feels like a sermon. Write down all the vocab words that he explains

I had Hawkins during my freshman year, and looking back I can easily say that he was one of the most professional, interesting, and compelling professors I've had. He really knows how to deliver a lecture, learns names the first day, and engages the material in an intersting way. Take his class!

Amazing lecturer! He captivates his audience! The TA's are rather difficult on grading papers, but are willing to meet and discuss. Hawkins memorized everyones names on the first day and makes effort to establish a professor-student relationship. Take it!
