Honestly hes one of my favorite professors and as long as youre competent you will get a great grade. All of the readings in Electroacoustics were to get a broader understanding of the tech and if you didnt do any of them you can still get an A in the class.

As a non-music major, I was advised against taking his class. However, the myths I was told about him were by all means false. It may be different from person to person, but it was a good class, and an easy 'A' if you pay attention, study, and read the material. He does tell corny jokes and stories related to the material a lot, you've been warned!

I took music media with him. He spent all semester asking us over and over if we knew what the term "micro-aggression" meant. Seemed to get frustrated when people would explain it to him as he just couldn't seem to ever understand. Overall underwhelming class. I would not recommend it for music majors.

I am a speech path major and I took this for my fine arts credit. If you aren't a music person or don't have much knowledge about music, then don't take it. Most people in the class failed the first test but he didn't curve it or anything. He is a funny, entertaining guy but if you're looking for an easy elective, don't take it.

I found Peter to be very entertaining. He really made concepts he was talking about easy to understand. For music and the media, the tests are pretty easy, I never did the readings, and the last half of the semester is spent analyzing movies. Not a bad deal.

had him for all electroacoustic classes, not a good professor, he is very unorganized and doesn't explain the in class material well and is plain wrong sometimes. His grading policy varies and you never know what you will get. Skip this class.

Unless you are a music major, Peter Rothbart will not make time for you. The Music and the Media class is wrongly titled as it has nothing to do with media and is wildly outdated. Very dull and unless you are a music major, no Rothbart class will be right for you. Rothbart is not understanding and very egotistical, no matter what the circumstance.

I've taken a lot of classes with Rothbart - he's a cool guy, very down to earth. Yes, he does like to tell stories & jokes, but he tells you what you need to know and is always willing to help. He has a lot of experience in music and knows what he's talking about. Go to class, study your**** & you'll do well.

I've had many classes with Peter. I find him to be down to earth and straightforward with students. He's always nice to everyone unless you don't show up to class. Class content has always been helpful and interesting. He will be there for extra help, get to know him and take his classes, tests are hard but generally good classes!

I have taken many classes with Rothbart and while he seems to be fun and always cracking jokes, he is the one professor at Ithaca College that I truly despise. He treats you like garbage if you're not a music major, especially in non music major classes. This man severely needs to get over himself.

Presentation was hopelessly disorganized. Students knew more about the material and equipment than he did, and were asked by Dr. Rothbart for help during his frequent fits of incompetence. It was blatently obvious that Dr. Rothbart did not prepare for or care about class. Don't waste your time with this terrible excuse for a professor.

A grown up hippie with tenure, so he's pretty laid back. In-class work was easy enough, but he could heve been more clear about the studio stuff. He spends a good portion of each class rambling / trying to be funny, and is always surprised when no one laughs at his bad humor.

Can be found geeking out in front of reel-to-reel tape machines or synthesizers. Teaches class on metal bleachers like in a football stadium. Damage done to his memory banks years ago, and is more machine now than man. Reduced to thumb-twiddling when the building's power goes out. Makes music as cold and sterile as possible. Take something else.

He wasted half of every class warning us about the weather or why Kerry wouldnt be elected. Then, being that he is the only one in the world knowledgable on the subject he says, showed us movies and disected themes he credited to Hitchcock, forgetting that Psycho was a best selling novel before fil

This class is easy. But if you're not interested in bad jokes and kids sucking up to Rothbart and him loving it(like the other students who rated him),I suggest bringing a book b/c it gets pretty boring. And get use to him bragging a whole lot, the class seems to be the life of peter rothbart.

He should be a sociology teacher. He's a smart guy, knows what he's talking about, and he offers a lot more than music and the media. Take the class and be sure to participate. (it's EASY)
