Comment:
Schwartz is a funny guy who brings a lot of material to the table. Sorting through the material can be a daunting task, and the professor is eager to share what he knows with the students. The issue is that it was difficult to follow lectures and the reading materials were painstakingly long and were not always addressed in class.

One of the best professors I have had at Boston University. If you are interested in becoming a better writer, take a class with him. He will help you think through your arguments thoroughly and translate them to the page. He knows his subject matter and exudes enthusiasm. Highly recommended.

knowledgeable and intelligent; easy-going; makes the class fun and very thought-provoking; genuinely passionate about everything he teaches; very helpful outside of class; lenient about due dates if you talk to him because he's more interested in you actually learning than just meeting deadlines... awesome professor!

Prof. Schwartz is one of the most fun teachers I've had - and I've had him for three different classes now. Yes, he is extremely disorganized and rarely, if ever, gets through his lesson plan for the day, but if you listen he makes sense on some deeper level. Also, he will help you as much as he possibly can just as long as you ask.

Nice guy, really, but very frusterating in the classroom setting. Presents interesting material, but too much reading, much of it extraneous. Grading does not correlate with effort - something to get used to. Always an interesting experience, though.

I love Prof. Schwartz as a person, but he gives a LOT of work and reading to do at home. KEEP UP WITH THE READING. He knows a lot, but tries to teach you EVERYthing he knows, which is really overwhelming when you have to write your final paper.

fund and intelligent man, but often unorganized. lots of informal writing assignments. seems as if he may be easy, but his standards are exacting.

His discussions were always extremely confusing. You can learn a lot, but as much time as you spend in class, you also need to spend in office hours if you want a good grade and a full understanding of what he tries to explain in class.

He is a really charasmatic professor who seems to really enjoy teaching. It's difficult to get an A in his class, but in general going to class is painless.

Needless to say, he's a smart guy, with degrees of all kinds (MD, PhD). Gives good examples and explains concept, but sometimes not thoroughly. Nice guy, but will not tolerate side conversations in class. Hard exams, very involved papers.

Sometimes his energy is a tad annoying at 8AM, but he tries very hard to keep our attention and keep us awake. Subject matter is a little abstract, but it is pretty much just common sense.
