S exist. Doesn't grade fairly. He is an intelligent man and knows his geology, but has no clue how to share his knowledge in a way that a professor should have learned by now. Also, very boring... and I mean he is boring, not the subject matter.

VERY HARD!!! I studied the book AND his notes constantly and I still made a C. He is hard to understand, and a little arrogant. His tests are CRAZY hard.. unless you are a Geology major.. STAY AWAY!!

Comment:

Uses nice analogies to help those who do not have a geo back ground. The class isn't easy, however it's doable. No assingments other than 4 tests, but GO TO CLASS and you should do fine. Book is not necessary his printed ppt notes are sufficient.

This professor is tough. I worked so hard in this class. I ended up getting a B. The tests are VERY hard. Go to all classes and take lots of note, study hard and you'll pass.

The worst course I have had to take in my six semesters. He is arrogant, not helpful, and does not adequately cover the material on his tests. Do not take if you can help it.

I am a junior, and this is the hardest prof I've ever had. His tests are impossible and your grade is based on 4 tests that cover 4 chapters each. He is not willing to help if you are having trouble,and he thinks his students should know everything he does. If you are not a geology major, don't take him.. STAY AWAY!!

Kemmerly is a great professor. His lab has increased my interest level in Geology. The Geology department seems to have a real connection with their students (Field Trips, group activities, etc). Had I taken this class 3 years ago I would have never chosen to be a Business major. GO GEOLOGY!!Go down and show the Business dept how to connect.

He is a jerk. He claims his tests are from the notes word for word but you really do have to memorized the chapter. He is not a good teacher. He never just gives the answer. He also never says what will be on the test or what might be on the test. Stay away from him if possible. He is a crappy professor.

He's a very intelligent man and probably one of the best geologists in the country. As teacher he is awful!! His tests are ridiculus and even though his notes are on the internet you still need to go to class. He will add stuff onto the notes. If you are geology major or you like a challenge take him. If you are a first semester freshman stay away!

He does not treat all students equally, especially females. He thinks he knows everything, but cannot give a straight answer about anything. Labs are impossible - counts the answer right on one person's and wrong on the next even though it is exactly the same. Interesting only if you want to hear about needing earthquake insurance.

Just had this guy for lab. This class is not hard if you know anything about "rocks". He is arrogant and assumes everyone is an idiot. The problem i had was he told me i was going to fail the first exam because i missed 4 days. (i missed 2 and was late the others )If i miss its my problem not his. This class is not hard, just ignore his attitude

This instructor is very hard.If Geoglogy is you major and you like a challange,go for it. If you pass on the first try you are definitely good. Test are multiple choice but hard,hard.If you dont know how to apply each chapter to the test you will not pass. Take camelleri or Dyberg. I got a B, but had to work very hard. He's ok overwise.Rick helps.

Very knowledgable about geology but has questions on test that he doesn't teach. I studied nightly, tape recorded EVERY class and went over it all and his tests still had questions that weren't taught. In lab he told us he wouldn't test on certain things and tested on them so do not trust what he says. Take him if your a Geolog major, otherwise no!

Comment:

Dr. Kemmerly is a very cool professor. His lectures are interesting and he always has a story to go right along with the material. Tests are not easy, you have to study and know the material almost entirely. He just expects the best out of his students.
