Darby is a cool professor! Took him for Ecology lecture & lab! The tests come from the lectures & homework, so just study as you do them. Lab with Darby is where the fun really begins! You go on a bunch of cool field trips & get to learn all about the ecology around Pensacola. Darby is an awesome teacher, & you can tell he loves what he does!

I really enjoy his classes, He's very funny and engaging. His lectures are extremely interesting as well. I can't wait to take him again next semester. Between him and Dr. Toby UWF is in good shape Bio department wise.

This class was very interesting, and I learned a lot of randoms, but interesting facts that I can use throughout life. He keeps the class engaged, and the tests and quizzes are very easy as he gives you a chance to see the questions throughout the semester. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! :)

I would recommend Mr. Darby because he has a quirky sense of humor and is definitely passionate about what he does. He tends to quiz on specifics in class rather than readings in the books so if you don't attend you won't get very good grades on the quizzes

Comment:

Gives powerpoints with missing words so you have to go to class to fill in the blanks. Breaks up lecture well with videos and group discussion. Did not use book except it has the group discussion questions. Lets you correct wrong answers on test for half points. Lots of information but pay attention and re-read notes, you'll be fine.

I took him for biology and it was pretty straight forward. attendance is not mandatory but you want to go to get all the notes from his lectures for the 3, 60 question test and 11, 10 question quizzes. no need for a book, everything is in the lectures you print out for class. no talking, he hates conversation during class and will kick you out!!

Good instructor, hard class. More detailed than expected for a non-majors class.Textbook use very, very low, short weekly quiz can be tough. You'll need to attend class if you expect to pass. Darby - rightly - kicks talkers out of his class (3 in mine), so don't expect to socialize during lecture.

This class was harder than I expected, but I did enjoy it. My quiz grades didn't start out high because I spent too much time in the book. Don't do that. Focus on the notes from class and your grade will be good. He tells you what to study for the tests.Don't talk in his class. Ever. He's serious about that. He's excellent at his job.

Dr. Darby is a pretty cool professor. As long as you go to class and keep up with the notes, you will do fine. The semester is almost over and I have a 82. You have a quiz every week and sometimes they can be tricky. The exam are super easy since the questions come from your quizzes and questions he tells you to look at in the book.

This is the easiest and most interesting science class I've taken at UWF. If you aren't a science person you may not like what he teaches but you can definitely do well. The most difficult part of the class are the quizzes but the tests are super easy to get A's on if you study the quiz answers and questions in the book which he gives you.

Its a General Biology class but nothing about it seems general. There are lectures every class that never seem to make sense. youll have almost 9 pages of notes sometimes to study for a 10 question quiz and quizzes are every week and im never sure what exactly to study within my notes. be prepared to be consumed by his class 75% of your study time

Darby is a really cool guy. If you print out all the lecture notes and show up to class you'll ace every quiz. There is a quiz every week and all the material comes right from the lecture. Reviewing the notes can take some time, but it's worth it. Exams aren't difficult either. Study!

Very boring. He is nice and kind of funny, but I do not like his actual class. You take notes everyday and you take quizzes once a week. No midterm and the final is not accumulative. If you are a bad test taker DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. I read about the first page of the textook and that's about it, so I suggest not buying it. Lots of studying!!!

I hate any sort of science class, but had no trouble making a high B. His tests come mostly from the quizzes, which when you get them back have the right answers marked if you missed them. Good teacher and does a good job of explaining the subject. If you go to class you should have no problem. He even puts up notes you can print off of eLearning.

Super easy class! Definitely recommend to take with Darby. Print out the notes for class and fill them in and you will be fine. For quizzes study your notes from class and for exams study your previous quizzes and you will get an A. His lectures are clear and he's more than willing to help if you don't understand. Just don't talk during lecture!

The people saying his tests are hard the ones that DONT study. His tests comes DIRECTLY from his lectures you print and fill out, also questions he picks out of the textbook. Easily get an A if you study! also the quizzes are easy if you STUDY! GREAT professor.
