DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. He is the worst professor at UNI I've seen. He likes tell students their opinion ais wrong. He doesnt give any feed back on why you were given a grade. In my life I have had approximately 150 teachers. He is-without a doubt--by far the worst I have ever had. His daily activities are generally pointless: taking attendance, letting the students talk about intuitive topics, and arbitrarily giving a B- to everyone. The typical janitor can probably do a better job. (sadly, not even exaggerating)

DO NOT TAKE!! This is by far the worst professor I have ever encountered. I am honestly shocked he has a job anywhere. He does not review what you turn in and grades are based off of his own whim and how he feels. He states that perfect work only merits a low B in his mind. For almost all grades he just assigns a B- for everyone.

Very hard to work with, quizzes are pass/fail, if you do one thing wrong on the quiz as little as a misplaced column it is a fail. You are to figure out the problems on your own, yet if it is not to his way of thinking it is counted wrong. You can retake the tests as much as you need, but the tests are over things not covered in previous classes.

I cannot stand sitting in class. East is not very good at explaining his thought process out loud, leaving me with many questions he does not know how to answer. I am usually better just looking on his website and working ahead by myself. Participation IS GRADED!!!!! Yes, you are back in high school and speaking up in class is part of your grade.

I have no idea how he fooled the university in getting a job. His classes are so unorganized and not planned out. He doesn't know anything about the subject he's teaching and is reading the book with the class. Dosnt understand big words and gives out bogus grades. A if he likes you, F if you prove him wrong. Do not take waste of time and effort.

I liked Dr. East but his grading criteria was very unclear and he seemed fairly disorganized. He was extremely late on getting grades back to you and by the end of the class I didn't know what my grades were on assignments from the first half of the semester. It was a very time-consuming class and was frustrating at times.

Wow, The worst teacher at this school. Algorithms are huge and inefficient. If algorithms are simplified they are wrong because he gets confused. He does not know how to code, Visual Studio corrects every word he types. In addition, he likes to pick his nose, make dumb noises, and have his coffee during lectures. The book is the real instructor.

His class is not that interesting, but important as class participation is part of the grade. I often got lost in the class. You need to pay extra attention in his class to follow what he is teaching. Test is 100% or 0%. However,take as many times as you wish. He is very helpful outside the class. Make appointments helps.

The first day of this class he tells you that if you have any programming experience you should get out of the class. It turns out that if you don't have any experience you're royally f'ed. He doesn't explain anything clearly and his grading scale is messed up. Most of the time he doesn't even know how to do what we're supposed to be learning.

I took him for Visual Basic. I would not recommend you take him for VB for at least another year. He is just learning VB for the first time right now and having the teacher learn at the same time as the student is really hard. He is a good teacher and probably is good for other classes.

Worst professor I've ever had. Some professors are brilliant, but have issues actually teaching. Phillip East has the unfortunate combination of no subject matter expertise along with having no teaching skills.
