Prof Silvia has great passion for history and it shows in his lectures. He takes time for the class to understand a topic & makes a point to have a personal connection with every student. The course itself was diverse and focused on aspects of race within US history. While I normally am not into history, I found this class to be one of my favorites

All quizzes are True False. Show up and pay attention during lecture and you'll most likely get anywhere between an 80-90 on every quiz. read the chapters he assigns and you'll get everything right. Writing assignments are easy if you read what he assigns, he doesn't want to make your life harder he just wants you to fully understand. Very fair.

Lectures the whole class w/out powerpoint via old fashion lecture style. EASY class compared to other similar history classes. You need the book to cover a couple topics that shows up on T/F tests. Easy writing assignments. Very down to earth guy. If you show up and follow the instructions, its really hard to get lower than B. Expect B+ to A.

One of my favorite teachers here at BSU. His enthusiasm for the material truly makes me more interested in what we are going over. He brings pictures to every class to help with what we are discussing. There are no curve balls on the quizzes, everything is exactly the way he said it. If you are a good student, there is no way you'll fail his class.

Dr. Silvia was one of the best professors I've had at BSU. He gives lectures and T/F quizzes at the end of every chapter. Definitely read the chapters, he goes over all the main things that will be on the quizzes in class. He was a great professor and made class interesting even though history can be boring. I 100% recommend taking his class :)

Doctor Siliva does use blackboard or anything on the computer but has everything with him at all times so if you would like to know your grade, just go up to him after class. He gets to know everyones name in his class to the point where he doesnt take attendance because he knows if youre here. Lectures are great because he doesnt read off PPs.

Weekly T/F quizzes, with very confusing wording. Typically 3 questions straight from the book, if you get those wrong an extra point is deducted from the quiz grade. Isnt afraid to make you aware youre not doing well in class. Study guides are insane. PAGES of topics you must know everything about or else you will fail. Hard to take notes in class

He's incredibly smart, but the lectures can be so boring. They feel like they drag on for days. But he gives you a study guide for every single quiz/test, and if you actually study the terms you will pass. All quizzes are true/false, and the final is true/false with some identification and an essay. Easy if you put the effort in.

Wicked good dude. If you are a history major, you must take a course with him, and if not, this is the professor that will at least get you excited for your history class. Use of technology is perfect for painting a vivid picture of historical events. He shows documents and artifacts with the projector that follow an incredible lecture

Great professor, really knows the information about American History, and approaches the tough topics in a way that really allows you to grasp the concept. Approached racial history in a way that I found truly amazing, really helped me understand the tensions in history and to appreciate some changes. He made history a story, not just facts.

A great guy who can answer any question you have to ask about American History. While his lectures can jump around a little bit, it always makes sense in the end. He doesnt use powerpoint, he teaches with pictures and sometimes writes quick notes on the board.
