Take Dr. Thomas at your own risk. This class has been the hardest class I have experienced. He does not care about his students and makes it clear. This class is required for graduation for nonmusic majors. His teaching techniques make no sense to any of his students. He is a decent person and an awful professor

I'm on a pre-med track and required to take this class. I am not a music major, and should not be expected to have the knowledge of one. Enter: Dr Thomas's class. I make A's on every class assignment, yet manage to make a D on every single test. His test is basically over material he POSSIBLY alluded to, in a whisper, as you were leaving class.

Dr. Thomas' Music History classes are not for the faint of heart, but not impossible. You'll want to buddy up for studying, and make sure you take advantage of tutoring. While the class is easily the hardest you'll take as a music major, Dr. Thomas is very helpful and provides so many opportunities to succeed. You WILL learn something in this class

Dr. Thomas is a great lecturer and you will learn so much about Music History. Studying can be overwhelming so pace yourself. Also, Dr. Thomas is not the lenient kind- so come to class and don't make excuses.

His class seems like it's all over the place, but holy cow. Later, when I had to take a test on this stuff for education ~ I knew all the material. You can't tell, but he's a really good teacher (if you're a dedicated, organized student)

Very helpfyl teacher. Definitely the hardest class I have ever taken in my life, but well-worth it. I still remember almost everything from these classes. Hard teacher, but he rewards hard work when he sees it. Not as bad as others make him out to be. Really a very friendly guy.

Dr. Thomas expects a lot out of you - the only piano teacher I've had that turned a piano lesson into a theory and history class as well. However - I learned a lot from him and I would rather have a teacher that forces you to learn than one that pats you on the back every week. Word of advice.. get on his good side and it will go well with you.
