There is a very special place in hell reserved for anyone who would speak ill of this man. He was one of the best teachers I had at Emerson, demanded that we always give our all, and was a very nice guy to boot. Only take his Film II if you're willing to have your conventions and thoughts on Film challenged.

...lucky to have him as a prof...the man lives for film...very knowledgeable, but you only fully take advantage of this if you TAKE THE INITIATIVE and ask questions (which is good, cuz in the real world, no-one's gonna hold your hand)...also encourages us to make our own choices (very rare at emerson)...his cinematography course is the most popular at the college...which should tell you something...

Was unsupportive of my group's project, never successfully answered questions we had, and took off major points from my final grade (giving me my only C+) because I missed a few classes PRODUCING OUR FILM! I do NOT recommend him as a professor unless you enjoy hating a class that should be the culmination of all learning and work if you're a film major. I should have dropped the class and spent tuition on my film instead of putting up w/ Pierre. Ugh. Stay away. You can learn more on your own. Seriously.

Pierre was the first, and greatest, film production professor I had at college. I went to Ithaca College. I was very sad to see him go. He is a harsh grader but he is honest, up front, and I think fair. It is a shame IC drove him out. He was one of the few teachers there who didn't discourage me from making a film that I wanted to make. Let's face it, most IC film faculty are hacks. Pierre is not.

Pierre was always very friendly and helpful when approached, but he misgraded me and then said "oops, I meant to give you an a." Which totally sucked. He also gave impossibly boring lectures, getting into the philosophy of "light" and "dark" and "eyes". Very weird and unhelpful. He also played favorites, was forgetful, and to this day has never emailed me back. Avoid at all costs.

He's a great guy and good to talk to but his knowledge is old and sometimes unfounded but is good for debate.

I like the guy, but didn't learn much - not enough time was the problem, though. Also, took a full grade off my final because a few papers were prepared wrong, though the film got an A-. So that was silly.

cinematography class. awesome professor. i learned a lot. but he's a little tough on the grading and doesn't push his students. you have to want to learn in order to learn from him.

Had Pierre for a year when he taught at Ithaca College. His classes are what you make of them; he's a great teacher and a great person to talk to, whether in class, in the editing room, or over drinks at the local pub.
