For her figure drawing class. She dosent do lectures, Dosent show you on a board or in person how to draw. Dosent tell you how to fix whats wrong. Just comes up and scribbles all over your hard work, causing you to have to restart. She failed everyone one the only two hw assignments. She expects you to be at her level of drawing to get an A

Comment:

Nixon is a rarity in American arts education - a classically trained and accomplished artist who knows how to teach. Focuses on the basics and skill building. Her courses are very well thought out - one class builds on the next. Pushes students out of their comfort zone and on to the next level. Better instruction than at prestigious art schools.

Ms. Nixon is an excellent professor and she expects students to be the same. She is an expert in the history of art and if you are not interested in this subject then you are wasting your time in either of the classes. Yes, she is demanding, but you learn so much IF you take an interest. She deserves an A+ on Rate My Professor.

Nixon might be an acquired taste. She is a good teacher to the student who actually cares and puts in effort into her courses. She is a bit eccentric, but is very welcoming and easy to go to for assistance. Her class is easy if you listen to what she says in class. Don't take her course unless you care about the subject matter.

Nixon is awful do NOT take her class. She spends the entire time lecturing from the back of the room with the lights off so you can see the slides. The tests are all short answer and she makes you memorize WAY TOO MUCH INFO. She is a waste of time and should NOT be teaching. She failed me despite how hard i tried. AND she doesnt give xtra credit!!

She bullies her students and is a waste of time in terms of teaching. You ask how to do something, she shows you something else. Instead of helping, she criticizes everything. She also draws all over your work, no matter how hard you may have worked on it. At the moment, everyone tries hard in her class and yet the majority of us all have C's and D

I've had her for both Histories of art and Drawing II and I will say that you learn A LOT, but you have to be interested in learning and also be very respectful, she won't take ANY BS. In History she does slide lectures and you need to read the book, Drawing is very hard, but I leanred more with her than any other art teacher

ok, so here's the deal with Nixon. she's super tough, but you won't learn more with anyone else. i hated her at first, we butted heads ALL THE TIME, but now i actually really love her, haha...i guess you need to accept her harshness and work with it. she's not easy, but a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Plonia so far has been my toughest professor. She has no sympathy for you. If you are sick and you show up to class anyways feeling like crap, she'll tell you to suck it up and to stop being a baby. She makes you feel like crap when you have messed up on a drawing. She definitely knows what she's talking about, but she needs to learn to be nicer.

She can be somewhat intimidating, but if you relax, go to class, and pay attention, she quizzes you only on what she teaches you (in history of art anyway). She may be a bit distant and yes she insults her students but she has a genuine interest in her subject and tries to get people interested. Don't take her class if you're looking for an easy A

Honestly if you go to class she is easy. The class before the test she will tell you exactly what pictures to study. If you go to class and pay decent attention to what she talks about you will do fine! She also has a wonderful accent which sometimes makes her explanations very comical. She also has lots of funny stories about her trips!

I didn't like her at first, but towards the end of the class I started to get used to her and liked the class more. Figure Drawing is not my strength, but this class was easy enough to get through. She's not the best teacher to take for adv.figure drawing if you aren't a studio major or very interested in drawing.Take her if u can already draw well

took Figure Drawing and Watercolor class - one of the best teachers ever had - would recommend her to only those serious about learning how to draw. If you're interested - she'll spend a lot of time with you. If you're fooling around - she'll ignore you.

taking my 2nd class w/ her. took drawing 2 and adv. figure drawing. she is the best teacher you will ever have. if you care about bettering yourself she will do ANYTHING for you. she came from a dutch art academy so she is old school. if you passionate about art you will love her- she seriously has changed my life in many ways.

Made it clear, NO ONE can draw and put everyone down. Discouraged class and erases your drawings with one swipe of a feather. Asked me "how do you expect to be an art major if you can't draw"...I'm a photo major, thanks. Nothing is ever good enough for her. Gives drawing homework. HA! Tells class she doesn't know how half the kids pass Drawing 1.
