Comment:

Not too bad, I'm not good with understanding accents, but hers was fairly understandable after you get used to it (Indian.) If you don't feel like coming to class, you can just show up near the end and sign her attendance sheet so you're not marked absent. Exams are fairly simple, lots of memorization. She counts spelling, but that's the hardest.

Comment:

She is a horrible prof. Do not take her unless you have to. Her tests are easy but are accompanied with a long, toughly graded essay. Her accent is very thick. If you ask questions she will definitely answer with an attitude, she is incredibly rude. She gives poor grades and feedback on the essays.

Comment:

She is a very smart teacher, she definitely knows her stuff. If you go to class and listen you will have no problem. She does have a monotone voice and she barley speaks English. All grades are based on 4 exams, and lowest one gets dropped. The final exam is not hard at all. She is overall a good teacher if you can understand her.

I was extremely concerned when I first got in this class because Madhok has a very thick accent that is hard to understand at times; however, the class is based on your exams and she gives you study guides with all of the answers on them. Most exams have essays, but theyre easy. She also drops the lowest exam & gives extra credit for attendance.

Comment:

Shes boring with a monotone voice. She can be rude and everything distracts so she gets upset at people. Her class is very easy. You don't even have to go to pass, just the review days. She sends out a study guide that is the test. Spelling counts. Every test has a essay thats worth 10pts. I have yet to write one she was happy with. Easy class.

Reading other reviews made me not want to take this class but I am glad I did. Yes she is hard to understand but the class is easy. There are 4 tests only 3 count & a final, tests are the study guides. Each test does have essay questions and she does take off for spelling/grammar but still an easy A. Don't buy the book, Extra credit for attendance.

She is absolutely the most miserable woman I have ever encountered. Despite her practically giving you the answers for the tests, she is insanely picky about the length and bad grammerspelling will cause you to lose points. Tests are essay based, part is take home, the other is writing from memory in class. Rude and monotone. Avoid at all costs.

Her accent is slightly difficult to understand. All the exams are graded by grad students so they can grade them however they want (no matter if it's right or wrong). She is very monotonous and strict. Study guides are GREAT. The course is around 40% based on Indian religion (she is Indian). Oh, and spellinggrammar WILL get points off

Definitely a mixed bag with this professor. She gets frustrated easily over the smallest things, and is quite rude when answering questions both in and outside of class. Her accent makes it hard to understand, but she sends out comprehensive study guides and basically gives you the test before hand. An easy class, albeit a boring one.

She is soooooo boring, super monotoned and she has an accent so you pretty much have to look at the power points and course pack to figure out a lot of the vocab. The tests aren't too hard she pretty much gives you everything that'll be on it.

Definitely positives and negatives. Positives are gives a great study guide and exams are not that bad. Negatives: Class is very boring (but what art history isnt?!?!) She gets angry or frustrated with the class really easily, and she is very mono-toned. Not my favorite professor but not the worst. Oh and btw all spelling counts (that sucks too)

Such an easy class. Yeah, it's boring as hell, and attendance is mandatory, but if you take a book or laptop or something to entertain you for an hour and fifteen minutes, she never fusses about it. She emails study guides a few days before the test with all of the questions and answers to the test, and they are all short tests. Easy A.

Boring. Monotone, and with her accent it's hard to differentiate between subjects. I've never seen her smile - not sure she is capable. Huge attitude if someone's eyes droop or someone leaves during lecture, even to go to the bathroom. Completely rude when you simply ask a question and acts like she doesn't understand you. Take anyone but her.

She struggles greatly with English and tends to go on off topic rants from time to time. She uses religious texts to provide historic proof which ought be illegal. Easy A if you can turn your brain off and just listen but not fall asleep.

I took her for both 1906 and 1907, and she isn't a bad teacher at all; it's just very hard to understand her because of her accent and how intimidating she is. If you take the time to study her test guides, attend class, and can stay awake, you'll be passing with a decent grade.

This teacher is very hard to understand and is extremely monotone, so have fun trying to stay awake. Her tests are all different formats and this makes it hard to get into any sort or grove, I recommend deff not taking this teacher!

Comment:

Very good teacher....interesting lectures and copious review of slides and artist/artworks. Extremely knowledgable (especially concerning Indian art) and professional. Highly recommend class.
