This guy was good. Some say the lecture was incomplete, but I felt the lecture was supplemental to the text. You can't have one without the other! He was also very helpful in lab. He also is quite fond of the word 'wiggle' which I found entertaining. Dont listen to those complaining about 174, they just suck at physics. I recommend this guy.

Electronics-Spring 08: Lectures are not always consistent in structure, nor do the problem sets always match what was taught. Needs to provide lecture objectives ahead of the lecture so that one can read the appropriate sections in text. Gives explanations of interesting and related content not discussed in the text. Rainer Johnsen is the worst teacher I've had thus far. It is so hard to pay attention in class. I took physics in HS and got A's. This class was really hard. The tests are all multiple choice, no partial credit. They really aren't THAT hard if you study well and teach yourself.

if you don't already know physics don't take this guy, you won't learn much except. The lectures were agonizing I had to force myself to go everyday. He makes you feel bad for him, like he really doesn't want to be there and you really don't want him to be either. He's probably a good researcher but not much of an instructor

Wait for anyone else to teach this class. Does not value student insight, very dry lectures direct from PowerPoint. Even the in-class demonstrations, which have potential to tie material together, are treated as a burden. I hope this guy does great research -- otherwise a total waste of my tuition.
