Great experience with both Micro and Macro Econ. Brought real world experience to the class and was engaging, but don't be late or disrespect classmates or he'll call yo out... as he should. Biggest complaints came from people who didn't pay attention in class. Participate in class and really try to learn and you'll have a great experience.

I love this guy! took him last spring (08), was my easiest class. I think most of the class got an a and maybe some B's. I made micro super easy. Tells you exactly whats on the test and dosent waste your time bsing, he teaches, you just have to soak it up, easy a. I hardly used the book, I wish i just would have gotten my info online.take him!

Ok, so I decided to take him because everyone said he was good. NOT! This was my worst class at UST. Did not understand anything in class, not even the project. The tests were take home but not the FINAL.

Prior to taking his class, I had little background in Economics. He is interesting and encourages group work. He brings reality into the classroom. His tests are fairly easy and mainly open book. The reaction papers aren't bad as long as you put some economic rationale in your analysis. Go to class and guaranteed an A or B.

Awesome! The man brings economics to a personal level and is also able to raise it to the abstract theory also. Motivator also, gets people to think of things in the same manner as the book "Freakonomics". If he were to teach a music class take it (not his field? who cares! that is how good of a professor he is).

The BEST professor I have ever had. So friendly, laid back, and a great lecturer. If he's teaching anything, take HIM. You will LOVE this man. He encourages you to work w/ your classmates on homework and take home exams. Oh, and he gave us a take home final. It doesn't get any better than this.

I had another professor for Intro to Micro and Macro and hated it. Dr. Shafiee has changed that. I am even taking an upper level class as an elective since his classes are so interesting and fun. I highly recommend this professor and feel he is one of the best at UST.

I really have learned the most from Mr. Shafiee. I don't think I would have found Economics fasinating at all if it weren't for his conspiracy style teaching. He's great, I would recommend him to anyone.
