Take any other history credit than this class. He blames failure on hard working students and he is rude to students when they ask for help. His comments on quizzes and papers are rude and do not help the students learn from their mistakes. He also does not care if you are struggling, he'll just suggest to drop his class.

The reading assignments are ridiculous. You will spend five hours reading and not even be halfway done. He also makes no sense in his lectures.

I took this class for a history minor and ended up dropping it because it was so difficult. He comes to class unprepared, his lectures are impossible to follow, and I feel like he says a whole lot of nothing. A lot of work for no results and has a poor attitude.

Most inspiring professor I ever had! I almost didn't take his class because of the scary stuff other students were telling me. He absolutely loves what he does and he projects it every class. Just show up, pay attention, be engaged and answer the questions he asks, and the A is guaranteed. His book is essential for passing. Sad the course is over!

Let me start by saying he's a great teacher for people with focus in history. Very passionate. I'd consider myself an average student but this was a pass/fail category class for me. What you don't understand in the lectures more than likely won't be clarified by reading (he wrote the books) although you have to read to pick up things he left out.

Loves what he teaches. Explains thoroughly. Willing to help if you go to him asking for it. MUST read. Tests are the same as the quiz, he tells you exactly what to expect, no surprises. Tries his best to make it interesting.

I'm honestly not sure why his rating is so low. You MUST do the reading. Read prior to class, listen to lecture/take notes/participate. He LOVES the material he's teaching and works hard to keep it interesting. Quiz questions are always drawn from a list of questions he gives in the syllabus. A very helpful study guide was given prior to the final

You absolutely must do the reading. He lectures with no powerpoint every class, quizzes on the reading every week in which 2/5 question are chosen out of a set given to students priorly. Just show up, do the reading, and be able to prove that you actually read in your quiz responses! Got a 100 on every quiz.

He is very interested in his subject and most of his class is discussion based. The lectures can get off topic but he is funny and easy going most of the time. DO THE READINGS. I recieved a low grade b/c I slacked off, not because he wasn't a good Prof. He will help you on your papers if you give it to him ahead of time. Responds to e-mails quickly

He definitely grew on me over the semester. He can make history fun. However, this is at the expense of the correct information. He uses no powerpoints, assigns lots of reading, easy to get a bad grade in the class. Do not recommend.

He definitely grew on me over the semester. He can make history fun. However, this is at the expense of the correct information. Often he contradicts known historical facts (which are even in our textbooks). He uses no powerpoints, assigns lots of reading, easy to get a bad grade in the class. Do not recommend.

Egotistical while grading/ in general. Has a habit of contradicting himself (i.e. write a paper based on your opinion, and then grades according to his own opinions.) Writes things like "you wasted your time." on papers rather than giving constructive criticism. Only good part- fun lectures...but stuff in his lectures rarely makes it to the exams.

Worse professor i have ever had! Not helpful at all. ridiculous assignments that are not clear. He is a terrible grader and you pretty much have to suck up to get a good grade. Is an overall egotistical jerk. Comments on tests not helpful. Lectures are fun but pointless. Didn't learn anything. Would not take him again or recommend him to anyone.

Very difficult grader. Assignments were not always clear and midterm and final very difficult as well. You need to study days before the test and you still will not be guarantied an A. A good teacher with much information but if you do not have the same ideas as him good luck!

This man actually allowed me to stay awake in a history class. He's great. You only have to write a couple papers and if you send them to him ahead of time, he'll help you out a lot. I definitely recommend this professor.

Avoid this prof at all costs if you value your sanity. lectures are horrible and rife with historical inaccuracies, mispronunciations, and stuttering to find words. paintings are used heavily making the class resemble art history , and if your interpretation of said painting is different from his, it's wrong. readings are tedious, instruction vague

His lectures can sometimes be a little confusing as he finds himself at a loss for the right word almost every other sentence but I extremely like the way his class was set up and feel I've learned a lot. I would recommend him.
