Comment:

Ray was not an inspiring professor. Long lectures, condescending approach to working with students in class and in 1 to 1 meetings for class project. Overall impression is that Ray is not into teaching, relies on dated material and shows little interest in his students. This may be harsh - but likely won't be a professor you'll want to repeat.

Very rude teacher. He expects you to know the answer the moment he asked the question. Quizzes are very tough. There are more than 10 people who got 0 on his quizzes. If you want to take ACCT 1110, I recommend to try a different teacher but if you want to experience toughness and failure, feel free to take the class with him as your instructor.

This was by far one of the worse classes I have taken. The quizzes which were online via mypearsonlab were extremely difficult and accounted for 14 the grade. The midterm was also 14 the grade. A lot of what we go over is formula based but he gives no explanations. He makes stupid jokes and attendance is mandatory

I really like Ray, I made an effort to visit his office hours early in the term and he now knows me and that helps a lot in class, yes he is an older prof that makes the million lame dad jokes but get past it, he knows his stuff and i enjoy his classes

I took this course online and the entire course was taught using the website for the textbook. If you take notes on how to work all of the problems in the "study plan" section of the course website you will be able to ace the open-book exams and quizzes. There was not much teaching in this course mostly just working homework problems online.

I took it with Brooks over the summer online and rocked it. Be very thorough in the material, and work on the book questions often. The best way to learn the material is to take a example from the book, and re-word the question. Know a amortization schedule and read up on key words used in the class. It was a steep learning curve.

I took this course online. I recommend this over attending his campus class based on comments I heard from other students. I did have one interaction with him during his office hours. He seemed like I was bothering him. I sent him questions via email which he responded to in detail so that was a plus. Final was ridiculous!

Tough class, but not as tough as this site lists it as. books, homework, quizes are MUCH more pertinent toward learning the exam material than the lectures. Try to do well on the homework so you dont have to attend the early morning recitation. likewise, try to do well on the quizes because those points can really help you out.

What a joke, seriously. Lectures were of no use, just him rambling on and on. Has a really big ego, which is very obvious when he puts down students in class. His tests are very difficult and he purposely doesnt prepare you at all for them. Avoid this class if you can or just be really good at finance.

Tried extremely hard to do well and was rewarded with a C-. Doesn't explain the financial concepts and just expects you to use the formulas. Everyone in the class complained that his tests were unfair. Beware

Warning ... expect to spend a LOT of time learning very little! Anyone can do the math by now. Finance concepts are pretty much ignored on homework, quizzes and tests. Yet the concepts are needed to know what math to do. Total disconnect, total waste of tuition money and time.

Class is ok but with the saturation of methods (class, ppt, text, recitation, online HW,and quizzes, etc), it's like learning to play the piano, being taught only finger placement and not the notes. Just continuous practice. BUT then you are asked to do a recital when tested. STRONGLY dislike teaching method! WAY too much time for what is learned!
